The Beekeeper's Picnic - A Sherlockian Adventure

I usually try to see the best in every game, especially indie productions, but this one falls short in far too many areas, and I can’t in good faith recommend it when there’s so much better available. It ultimately boils down to Sherlockian fan‑fiction with some “romance” options between Holmes and Watson, if that’s your thing. The game prides itself on a cute pixel‑art style and cozy gameplay, but what I saw was rougher than usual pixel art, not as polished as it could have been, and with little attention to details, plus a general lack of puzzles, interactive hotspots, locations, and things to do. I honestly have no idea why “cozy” is even in the game description. Add to that a few bugs, such as disappearing hotspots. The game lasts about three hours, but half of that is due to its snail pace: this old Sherlock walks very slowly with a cane, and navigating the six total locations the game consists of feels like you’re aging alongside him, pixel step after pixel step. If I had to sum up the entire game in one word, it would be “lazy,” not “cozy.” As a fan of Sherlock Holmes canon, this was an utter disappointment. Not a fan of Sherlock Holmes? Then the game gives you very little reason to pick it up at all. The voice acting is professional and stellar, which only makes the contrast with everything else more jarring. I love yaoi, and i geniuelly squealed when i first finished this game for the first time, holmes and watson are so adorable, the game is awesome too obviously, if you want to relax or make holmes talk to boots, doors yada yada its a perfect fit for you, i more than recommend 🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤

A nice, breezy little game. Nothing fancy. Just a few hours with Holmes and Watson in the English countryside.

an incredibly sweet and well-written game. I appreciate the art and especially the voice acting, which really elevates an already-fantastic script. seriously, huge shoutouts to the VAs for Holmes, Watson, and Mrs. Kumar and the voice direction in particular. discovered this late in development but got the chance to follow its dev for a bit, before finally getting around to playing it, and so while i experienced some minor glitches it makes me reflect on the time, effort, and care that go into making any game, even one that has a relatively smallish scope.

This was absolutely gorgeous, the perfect way to spend a couple of hours!! The game is beautifully sweet and kind, touching, and also incredibly goodlooking to boot (the pixel art is amazing and everyone's character portraits so cute!!). It's fantastically well written, voiced, paced, everything. Would gladly take a mindwipe to be able to play it again :)

I'm a big fan of pint and click games so this one was a happy addition to my collection. The puzzles aren't terribly hard and there are multiple ways to solve them. It was such a sweet, cozy game that I thoroughly enjoyed. It even brought me to tears at the end. Happy tears, I assure you.

I’ve watched, read, and played a LOT of Sherlock Holmes adaptations in my life, and this game is hands down my favourite of them all. The art is beautiful, the gameplay engaging, the acting spectacular, the story impossibly heartfelt and tender, and the love and respect for the canon material shines through so clearly. it has mysteries. it has adorable creatures. It has VIOLET HUNTER!!! It is in turns melancholy, hopeful, and hilarious, and always so deeply comforting and full of love. A real love story, in every sense of the word. I can't recommend it highly enough, especially to fans of the original series <3
