The American War is a first person shooter that takes place during the Vietnam conflict. The narrative is told through comic book panels from the perspective of a US Veteran recounting his experience. The accuracy of this account is dubious, twisted by trauma and the use of military stimulants.

I received an early access key for this and admittedly I haven't had chance to play much of this yet but I'm liking what I've played so far. The game has a bit of a retro-shooter feel to it and the shaders used, kind of remind me of XIII with the comic style outlining of objects which adds to this. Seem to be some surprises up ahead with this game and can't wait to have some time to get stuck further into it and I'm definitely interested to see where this one goes.
For a 1 man dev team this is an excellent game. It reminds me of a lot of the older FPS games, like the first Medal of Honour's or Call of Duty Big Red One and before. Very nostalgic! If you're like me and started gaming on those earlier titles, you'd probably find this game pretty enjoyable too! Obviously its in early access and still in development but I'm really looking forward to how this game progresses! *I did receive a copy of this game as a tester and have not been compensated in any way for my views or opinions.*
Don't get this review twisted I may have got it for free as the Developer is one of my best bois! (I'll tell him if it's ♥♥♥♥)
Campaign
I never thought i'd see through the eyes of a Vietnamese child but this game did that. Anyway, there is a lot of emotional intelligence and empathy that has gone into the writing of the campaign. From the prologue to the PTSD like visions your character has. Very Farcry 2 like. Semi open world maps, Hidden treasures and secrets. **When i find time to complete the game in finish this part of the review**
Multiplayer
The Multiplayer feels more optimised and gameplay more fluent. It reminds me of old Counter Strike: Source. (before orangebox) Very fun taking out bots gun-play is great works beautifully. Unfortunately the player base is lacking and I can't kick anyone's ass just yet, but i'm hopeful. This game has to gain some attention, it's a shame for it not to. For one guy on his lonesome to develop this, he's done a good job so far and for it's price tag, It's worth a Maccies happy meal, or a Starbucks Venti or 5 items at Poundland.
Pretty snazzy game if you ask me.
Please don't give up on this. Please.
THEY'RE IN THE TREES!!!! (10/10 game tho would recommend)
