About
You have crash-landed on a lethal, radiation-soaked planet, and you are running out of time. A scorching sun that burns everything in its path is coming your way. Your only hope of survival is a massive mobile base too complex for one person to operate. You are forced to make a decision no human has ever faced: creating a crew of alternative versions of yourself.
But your solution may just become your biggest problem.
You crashed. You are entirely alone. The sun is a death sentence, and your mobile base must keep moving to outrun it. With no rescue coming, you must find a way to operate it, or you’ll die.
When the planet itself is your enemy, every second spent standing still brings you closer to ash.
To survive, you must move. To move, you need help. Forced to use the base’s advanced quantum technology and the planet’s unique resources, you must create The Alters: alternative versions of yourself. Brought to life by a supercomputer that turned your alternative life choices into reality, they are your only hope. They bring the specific expertise and capable hands you drastically lack, but they also bring their own human baggage.
A crew of ‘yourselves’ is a psychological nightmare. Every Alter arrives with distinct personalities, memories, and regrets. You aren't just managing resources. You are also a relationship manager to yourself, mediating conflicts and confronting your past choices lightyears from home.
As tensions rise, your Alters will clash over how to handle the mission. Keep them sane and keep them together, or your own egos will destroy your only chance of seeing Earth again.
Your rolling base is your lifeline, your factory, and your home. Customize and upgrade it to accommodate your growing crew. Research cutting-edge technologies, manage crucial life-support gear, and manufacture what you need to survive. Turn your base into a self-sustaining powerhouse capable of keeping both your crew fed and your systems humming.
You cannot hide inside the hull forever. To fuel your base and progress your research, you must step out onto the hostile planet's surface. Venture out into unpredictable anomalies and heavy radiation to mine essential resources.
But watch the clock, as every expedition is a high-stakes gamble against the oncoming burning sunrise.

Reviews
This game is good, DLC is bad, tedious, boring, with protracted plot. I failed to complete it on medium difficulty so I completed it with easy difficulty
Cant seem to get past a bug with the bridge.
Very unique, emotional, immersive. Thumbs up!

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. The Alters is quite an ambitious game of lush branching storylines and textured character arcs, based on the intriguing concept of building a team of “Alter” personalities, which was what drew me in initially. Building off their previous titles Frostpunk and This War of Mine, 11 bit studios again weaves thought-provoking storylines and tough moral quandaries into the survival/colony sim genre, this time venturing into sci-fi. The injection of narrative into the management game genre is a rarity, as most contemporaries treat the story as more of an afterthought or progression tool. There are some downsides to this combination: the focus on narrative somewhat constricts freedom and creativity compared to sandbox management games, giving the economy and base development a more linear feeling, where "optimal" solutions can feel limited. However, this linearity is offset by impactful decisions that influence the story's progression, which helps the game regain the replayability that was sacrificed in the gameplay. I admit this game might not be for everyone, and it is not without its flaws. The economy/resource-gathering might be tedious if you don't enjoy management and survival games in general, but could also lack depth for management game veterans. The ideas behind the storyline are fantastic, but the execution sometimes falls a bit flat, leaving a feeling that there could be a bit more to be explored, while some resolutions feel a bit jarring and rushed. As some other reviews have already mentioned, when engaging in dialogue with your Alters, the fixed over-the-shoulder camera angle is quite poor for conveying emotion, and some events definitely would have hit harder if the team had a larger budget for cutscenes. However, in my opinion, the devs have done a good job of balancing a compelling story with relatively diverse gameplay options, given their budget limit. The gameplay is an interesting fusion of colony sim with an ample addition of single-character map exploration, which does a good job of breaking up the monotony of resource collection. The boring tasks can also be assigned to your Alters, although the game does speed time up if you are performing them yourself. The UE5 environments are genuinely beautiful, but as always, pretty poorly optimized. I was initially worried about the voice acting in the game, as the MC sounded a bit stiff emotionally, but he managed to convincingly portray all the Alters differently with subtle pitch and mannerism shifts, a very impressive feat. Each Alter had their own distinct personality and quirks, which made me genuinely care for their well-being. In conclusion, if you're a fan of colony sims, or think you would enjoy a philosophical story that explores concepts like scientific ethics, self-acceptance, and the meaning of life, then I definitely recommend giving this game a try. I found that many of the core themes resonated with me deeply, and this is definitely 2025’s game of the year for me.
Best game of managment i played
A worthy successor to pan Stanislaw's hard sci-fi. I've played Frostpunk and The Thaumaturge from these Polish guys and I have to say all of their games are unique, very-well written and memorable. The Alters picks a really interesting and deep topic of what-if and really develops it well as you play, and makes you ask the same questions as the character. Is there something else I could've done way back then, in that crucial moment? What could've I been like if I made a different choice? Or should I just make peace with the outcomes, learning and growing even on failures? The planet is gorgeous! Easy to believe there's a real one looking just like that somewhere.\ The gameplay is fun and engaging even without real "combat", the momentum and pressure are very well paced. The Alters themselves are a bunch of babies getting sad over absolutely everything. That's the only aspect where the game lacks, but it's a minor annoyance. The ending is something that caught me by surprise in a good way. There were also some moment where I would've taken a different path that was not offered, but the plot is still excellent as is. What a gem! I give it a 10 for novelty and how well everything blends together.
Such a great game, conceptaully really interesting, great story building, perfect balance of urgency in some ways but not a overwhelming rush - super impressed so far
Strong
Great game. I love the story, philosophical and moral aspects, characters, pace of the game (though sunrise timer is rather generous on normal difficulty). It feels like many choices have real impact on the game. I finished base game in 25 h and bought DLC immidiatelly after. DLC took me 13 h but last few was a drag.
Megafluid build was too much for me.
The story in DLC was not as great as in base game but I enjoyed it too. Overall I like base game so much that I seriously consider another playthrough just to see impact of all the choices. One small issue is that there is still one bug that locks organic resource permanently in your storage if you are not careful to avoid it.
