Looking at the "Overwhelming Positive" rating, I figured I'd give this game a try. Turns out, all this game amounts to is a king asking you ~100 questions (not an exagerration, I didn't count, but that is my best guess). The questions are ones like: "If you don't have enough food for all your men, do you feed the strongest troops, or the weakest troops?" and "Is it better to have a large, inexperienced army, or a small, experienced one?" I thought "this seems excessive, but maybe it will affect a lot later in the game or something". However, once you are done with these many, many questions, you get a text scrawl summarizing things like "percentage of troops lost vs. gained". Gives you a bunch of numbers that sound good, but don't really mean anything. Then you get one more cutscene that ends in a cliffhanger. The ending message says "post in the comments what you want to happen next!" That text, as far as I can tell, is what has at least contributed to this game's "Overwhelmingly Positive" review score. Some of the positive reviews are just people posting their "secret word" they get at the end game or telling the devs what they want to see next. Then that's the end. I beat this game in like an hour and a half, and I'm pretty sure I wasn't playing that whole time (got up to do something between answering all the questions). Thankfully, the game is so short that I was still able to get a refund.
As much as I love Randumb Studios, I hate it when there's no way to save. The game kept freezing on me and I've had to repeat the beginning five time, and I'm still not done.
i got this game as part of a personalized bundle that i got when buying the test games and it has only increased my interest in the dev team who made these games choice based games are some of my favorites while the test is much more a personalized experience this one offers a compelling story along with the choices impacting the ending secret word: defend
My word is "Priestess." I received the Remarkable advisor ending. My previous words for the test trilogy were "power, closure, and fair" in that order.
Magnus should not join the King's brother.
Secret word: bard Assessment of my advisory skills: magnificent This one is actually really well written, save for a few minor inconsistencies such as Magnus preferring ranged combat but also choosing "sword & board" over it, and as others have pointed out, "thrown under the bus" makes no sense in this context. An easy fix from bus to carriage, but still. As for my suggestion, I think Magnus should stick with Haralt. Something's fishy about the staff proposition, it seems they acquired it too easily and it's either cursed (hence why Haralt's been destroying them) or it's a fake.
Want to take a personality profile that is being used for... who knows what purposes? Are they profiling Steam users? Running a behavioral research study without having to go through an ethics reviewing committee? Obsessed with public opinions on nutrition but trying to collect a bias sample of responses? It's the dumbest possible click-through survey with mediocre graphics and zero story, zero resolution. Deeply regret the purchase and waste of time 0/10.
Morale
My Codeword was: Fortune
The word I got is: Morale
Secret word: bard. It’s fun to play a game where your choices actually shape the kingdom’s future. What I especially liked is that you don’t play the usual “hero,” but more of an antagonist figure, someone with influence and sharp edges rather than noble intentions. That twist makes the whole experience fresh and engaging.
