Ever wondered what it would be like to explore an abandoned, haunted apartment complex, just like television paranormal reality shows Ghost Adventures and Ghost Hunters (but without the annoying hosts and the camera from "Cloverfield")? Say no more, fam. Whet your [strike]pants[/strike] curiosity with this interesting horror piece that is The 9th Gate. [h1][b][u]About The Game[/u][/b][/h1] A girl with psychic abilities enters a creepy, abandoned apartment complex (armed only with a cell phone) in search of a missing little girl because, why not? In order to complete her mission, she is required to search for several creepy looking dolls scattered around the cursed complex. Inspired by Asian horror movies such as the [b]Tales of Terror from Tokyo and All Over Japan, The Eye, Shutter and Ju-On[/b] (just to name a few), The 9th Gate brings to life many Asian horror folklore from South East Asia, Japan and other Asian countries. Unlike the Western horror genre filled with boring zombies, vampires and chain-saw wielding psychopaths, The 9th Gate introduces you to the dark side of Asian superstition, with disembodied voices and floating phantoms roaming the darkened hallways looking for their next unsuspecting victim. [h1][b][u]Gameplay - 8/10[/u][/b][/h1] You control the protagonist in first-person. As weapons do jack squat towards the supernatural, you do not carry any except for a cell phone. The cell phone allows you to (slightly) illuminate the dark surroundings with its pathetic rear camera flash, as well as glancing the next creepy doll that needs to be located via the phone’s gallery. There is also a live camera mode, which allows you to see certain roaming ghosts so that you can avoid or scare them away (plus you get to see better in the dark). Another function is a speaker mode, which you'll need to use in order to locate the dolls as it gives you audible clues when you are near one. Moving around the complex while juggling your phone's functions can be a bit clunky at times (of panic) but there is also a Prologue chapter, which will help you acclimatise to the controls as well give you a brief backstory. There are also different difficulty levels if you find yourself a bit overwhelmed. [h1][b][u]Atmosphere - 10/10[/u][/b][/h1] No horror game is complete without spooky ambient noises, and this game has it in spades. Random disturbances and eerie voices fill your ears every step of the way. Headphones are recommended for the best experience. The graphics are also nice and immerses you in a hauntingly realistic environment, with dimmed hallways, abandoned rooms and derelict furniture lending to the eerie atmosphere. The wandering spirits will always keep you on your toes. Don’t worry about finding them, as they’ll be looking for you instead. [h1][b][u]Conclusion - RECOMMEND [/u][/b][/h1] The 9th Gate is a scary game, both figuratively and literally, as there are still some bugs (though not game-breaking, but still rather annoying) that the dev will hopefully iron out in due time. However, look past those, and you get a game that provides a high level of immersion rarely seen in most horror games. So, if you’re a fan of Asian horror movies or just looking for a game that threatens to strike you down with crippling panic attacks and make you sleep with the lights on for the next few weeks, then look no further. 优点: 自带汉化! 恐怖氛围做得挺好的 手机有不同功能的设定挺有意思的 不足: 鬼魂触碰后会消失2秒左右才突然冒出,是bug还是设计如此? 音效可以再设计好点,目前高能时刻的音效有些远(可能比较经吓吧) 还没做好优化,1070开不了高画质 笔记没有汉化 都是些前期问题吧 总的来说非常推荐购买!

Oh boy. Where to begin? I really wanted to enjoy this game. It looks pretty interesting and had some positive reviews so I gave it a whirl. The voice acting was pretty painful to listen to. The lady was overly dramatic with the way she spoke and it really ruined any kind of horror aspect since it wasn't scary, it just annoyed me. Let me give you a quick run-through of my playtime thus far: I start the game and I'm excited to see all the settings I can change since a lot of the indie games I play really only have an option for screen resolution or whether or not it is windowed. I'm a little worried about the rocking horse sound since it's a bit choppy, but I ignore it and continue with the game. Opening doors is ridiculously hard and glitchy. You need to hold your mouse button along with W or S (up and down) to use doors. This only works half the time so most of my game time was spent struggling to click and drag doors open. It was like they weighed 500 lbs and were too heavy to move. I try to ignore this and keep playing even though there is some lady(the same terrible voice actress from the beginning) who keeps calling you on the phone and being overly dramatic to the point that it sucks all of the horror out of the game. After about 10 phone calls within the space of 5 minutes, I'm not scared of the ghost anymore, all I wanna do is find the person who keeps calling me and strangle her so that she will shut up and let me play the damn game. So I get to a point where she tells me to go hide in a locker. Well, the second she does, the ghost spawns and kills me. What? Why? How do I avoid that? It sends me to the game over/reload screen. I reload and it puts me in a different room that I hadn't been in before at a completely different point in the game. Wtf?? I walk 5 feet, fall through the world, and die. Game over/reload screen puts me in another part of the house again. Jeez!! I fall through the world and die again. And at this point I'm done. I don't know how to finish a game that doesn't want me to play it. I don't understand why reloading from the last save puts me in a place I had never been in the game or why I kept falling through the world and dying. Sorry, friends! I was hoping to leave a good review for this. I tried. :(

Fun enough little horror which doesn't quite do enough to justify the price but on sale it could be a worth a look in. There's a brief prologue to get you used to the controls and mechanics and then you're let loose in an incredibly dark, sprawling 3-story building. Your goal is to track down 9 dolls (in order mind you, you can't shortcut by taking any old doll back) and return them to your magical circle home base, and this unlocks finding and rescuing the lost child to complete the game. And for each doll you only have a certain time limit to do so, otherwise you die and you have to hunt for it again. It's not very punishing though, any failure from timeout/monster catching you only sets you back to homebase, your current progress/saved dolls are still saved. Which does take the tension out of it a bit. How you find the right doll is to use your phone recorder. Where you put it to your ear, and hunt down the sounds of crying. If you don't hear any crying at all you have to go to another floor. At first it's pretty difficult as you bumble about, and have no sense of where anything is, and get stuck on furniture. But over time you quickly learn. As you go about you can light red candles which act as safe havens that evaporate any chasing ghouls. And there's a surprising variety of monsters populating the house. I won't say any more for fear of spoilers, you'll just have to just encounter the monsters for yourself. I wouldn't say this is a jumpscare heavy game, just a constant sense of tension, which escalates as you go on and the monsters have a heavier presence, the more dolls you find. Took me just around 90 minutes altogether to beat it and I had fun. Just not 5 euro fun. The 3.74 euro which I paid for it on sale for was just about right.

游戏整体还是不错的，游戏内容与pacify类似，都是找到9个被诅咒的娃娃，然后烧毁，然后营救少女。。 只不过唯一不同的是，pacify是少女，the 9th gate是小女孩儿。 先认真的评价下： 画质还不错，音效也可以，出场NPC（鬼怪）种类也还挺多，并不单调，玩法虽然和pacify类似，但是丰富了许多，加入了手机照相机找灵体和娃娃的内容，还是很有意思的。 花了大概4个多小时，总算是打出了结局，游戏很耐玩，通关了也没舍得删除。 关于结尾小女孩儿的找法，一般第一次出现位置在底层靠近中间的位置，先听声音，接近后用手机摄像头捕捉，因为是灵体，只有这种方式才能看见她，找到后，不要着急接近，确保身边安全后，蹲下潜行到身边，千万别到处奔跑，吓跑了，有你找的。。只要潜行接近就可以带走小女孩儿了，so easy的，我也是重来了好几次才知道的。 目前B站应该就我自己打出了结局了吧，估计都被最后这个小女孩儿劝退了。。。 https://www.bilibili.com/video/av50579635/
