I stumbled across this game in my discovery queue, and I am happy that I decided to give it a try. I'm surprised I hadn't heard about it anywhere else. I don't want to give too much away. As the description says, The 52 Fragments is a collection of experimental games (the aforementioned fragments), releasing once a week for a year (hence 52). Each of them has their own theme and gameplay, oftentimes making you think outside of the box or go out of your comfort zone (not in a malicious way) to properly "win" each game, and they each leave you with something to think about. As some have said, it has a similar feel to The Stanley Parable, but it has a more grounded approach in my opinion. Go ahead and give it a try. It's free, after all. You can play each game as it comes out and look forward to what will come next, or you can wait until late 2024 to play them all at once, but some fragments are supposed to change every now and then, so bear that in mind.
Жена сказала если на этом обзоре будет 50 лайков и 5 наград, она купит ящик пива, мужики выручайте! My wife said if this review gets 50 likes and 5 awards, she will buy a case of beer, guys help me out!
surreal experiences filled with psychological warfare and strange puzzles. play this!
I wouldn't recommend this game to everyone - it's just too weird for that -- however, if you enjoyed the Stanley Parable, or you like podcasts where reality mixes with perception of the media itself such as Rabbits, or Tanis this game will give you those same feelings. It will make you question what it's trying to do and why. Like I said, it's weird, but in a good way. Give it a shot, it can't hurt. -------------- I want you to know I listened, and it is going to be okay. Thank you for the coffee.
Firstly, even if you're not normally into this kind of game, I'd definitely recommend you give this a shot on the initial basis that it's free - it costs you nothing but a short amount of time and bandwidth. But what makes this game worth playing? The description has already explained a lot about the themes, but if you've played games like the Stanley Parable & The Beginner's Guide this is right up your alley. It's a bunch of (mostly) very short experiences exploring how players interact with games. Most of them so far have a "win condition" as far as I can see, even if that may be unrealistic or difficult depending on you, the player. Some or many of them may be connected, it's unclear at this stage (not all are released yet, but they drop every week or so) but I get the feeling choices made in previous fragments may impact the other fragments. Either way this game has given me a smile or in some cases (Fragment #8) made me laugh about how smart or silly it is about addressing the theme of player agency. It's got a lot of fun ideas and while they aren't necessarily super fleshed out, they aren't supposed to be - this is 52 fragments after all, not 52 AAA games.
☀️
Gotta love the concept of each fragment! Can't wait for all 52 to unravel (as I think some fragments cannot progress while the others are not yet released) recommended for ARG enthusiasts out there
