Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance is not just a game; it's an adrenaline-fueled journey where your strategic prowess decides the fate of mankind against the machines. After the machines took over, the greatest threats may not come from the machines but rather from other human survivors.

Playtime: 100 hours Genre: Gritty Real-Time Tactical Strategy / Sci-Fi Warfare Verdict: An absolute masterpiece of a tactical wargame that completely puts casual tourists in their place, built on the solid bones of the GEM2 engine, and armed with enough depth to keep us purging machines until the next major expansion drops.
1. Smashing the Crybaby Reviews & The "RNG" Myth
The 23-Hour Tourist Panic: After 100 hours logged in the trenches, it is high time to set the record straight against the endless wailing of digital tourists and fragile basement critics dragging down the user reviews. When you read a review from someone with barely 23 hours whining that "game-breaking bugs are constant" or crying because their veteran got domed through the fog of war by a basic grunt due to "unfair RNG dice rolls," let’s be entirely honest: your tactical situational awareness is roughly equivalent to a potted oyster stranded on a hot radiator. Playing Like a Commando on Ketamine: If your squads keep getting sniped in the dark, maybe it's because you're trotting them out into the open like a Sunday stroll through a minefield without ever checking your firing arcs. Skynet doesn't even need to deploy Terminators to wipe you out; you're doing a fantastic job exterminating yourself while playing like a legally blind commando hopped up on cough syrup. This isn't a random dice simulator; it's a demanding wargame.
2. Wargame Reality: Save-Scumming, Artillery & The GEM2 Engine
The Save-Scumming Reality Check: Sure, the campaign won't gently massage your feet. The jump between medium and hard difficulty is punishing, and yes, you'll find yourself reloading when an aggressive Legion ambush or a rocket-sponge tank ruins your day. But that is precisely what gives a true wargame its flavor! This isn't a sanitized, brain-dead Twitch-streamer RTS where you throw endless waves of infantry at a meat grinder while stuffing your face with crisps. The Holy Trinity of Survival: Artillery is absolute royalty here, having at least four ATGM squads on standby is a matter of basic survival, and every defensive line clawed back from the brink requires actual brain cells. Master your supply trucks, protect your trailers, and quit panicking the second a stray bolt hits the dirt. The GEM2 Engine Foundation: Anchored directly in the legendary Men of War engine heritage (the GEM2 engine), the game guarantees incredible modularity, deep unit management, and a level of micro-control that satisfies any genuine strategy veteran. Plus, expansions like We Are Legion brilliantly shake up the formula by throwing you onto the machine side with tightly restricted resources.
3. What’s Missing: Comparisons to Warno, Broken Arrow & Gates of Hell
The Cover & Ambush Drought: If we stack this up against heavy hitters like Warno, Broken Arrow, or Gates of Hell, a few legitimate grievances stand out. It sorely misses those deep, intricate micro-terrain hiding spots and organic ambush zones that Warno pulls off so masterfully to set up legendary traps. The Missing Air War: It’s also a crying shame that there is a complete absence of aerial units and a proper anti-air meta. In a total global extinction war against hyper-advanced killer robots, missing dynamic fighter-jet flyovers, strafing runs, and responsive air-strikes leaves a noticeable void in the battlefield sandbox.
4. The Omitted Progression System & Persistent Bugs
The Missing Organic Level-Up System: Where the critics actually have a valid point is the progression structure: the developers completely missed an open goal by failing to build a deep, organic soldier leveling system. Our troops should grow visibly tougher, deadlier, and more accurate through sustained combat experience rather than staying artificially static. And yes, watching vehicles occasionally get wedged between stubborn rocks or dealing with quirky pathfinding in urban ruins can test the patience of a saint. Surviving the Linux Crashes: But a few stray bugs or occasional Linux crashes don't excuse the whiners who throw a tantrum on the forums. The thrill of the resistance lives in that razor-thin tension where your PC fan sounds like a jet engine about to take off.
5. The Glorious Positives & Hype for What's Next
Masterclass Atmosphere & Veteran Bonds: Despite minor gripes, the core strengths of this tactical gem leap out at anyone with half a brain. The sound design is straight-up phenomenal—from immersive background scores to the bone-rattling crunch of heavy tank treads and panicked unit voice lines that scream pure survival. The trailer management system, vehicle customization, and carrying your cherished veterans across missions forge a visceral emotional bond (to the point where you actually want to hold a funeral when your favorite heavy gunner takes a direct shell). The DLC Hypetrain: With the monstrous new expansion dropping soon promising fresh horrors and new sectors to liberate, the hype to cleanse the surface of the earth is at an absolute maximum.
Bottom Line
Foncez. Step out of your comfort zone, learn how to anchor your lines of fire, and stop listening to the casual tourists who want generic, zero-calorie games where you win with your eyes closed. Get the game, embrace the suffering, and get ready for war.

Every market we collect.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

FIrst we need to adress the elephant in the room - this game bear Dark Fate name, but content wise, story, characters, vibes and writing it's more close to Terminator: Salvation than Dark Fate (if you replace LEgion with Skynet in your mind). Overall, this is very good tactical RTS with very good persistent campaign (Homeworld style) with great level of unit customization, upgrades, perks, salvage and resource management. Combat is fun, the campaign is interesting (as I said, Dark Fate in name only, the game is actually dragged by the movie, but other than naming Legion instead of Skynet, you can forget about all other links to the movie). The only issue that I found it very weird, XCOM style RNG: - your units feel to miss a lot more than enemies - feels they get dammaged mroe esily than enemy - feel like the miss more than enemy and hitbox are against you (enemy than hitt you from pixel wide gap between 4 building, while your bullets/missile hit a paper thin hitbox of some random junk). - stray shots and missile seem to find and dammage your units, 5 screens away from frontline all to happily. ALL ABOVE are subjective, either I'm very unlucky or the game gives much better RNG to enemy than you. Overall the game is great: 9/10
An excellent RTS with a great story and very in depth logistic-em-up gameplay Managing the army and resources between the main campaign and DLC expansions is fun and does have a lot of reply value in the Uprising DLC. If you like logistics and management games crossed with RTS then this is for you. The ability to change how you approach missions provides replay value. Saying this there are a few bugs and slowdowns when there is a lot going on. Some mods definitely help. When the only major complaint is there isn't enough of the uprising campaign. DLCs feel shorter. I am hoping more development goes into fixing a few of the bugs of units getting stuck in the building models.
Teaches organizational skillset, human resource management, supply management/logistical management and if you put the game on realistic mode.... good luck, you need a lot of planning to do.
Крутая стратегия с кастомизацией !!!! Я такого редко где видел , в основном только в пошаговых стратегиях! Разработчикам желаю успехов !!!!
Joyita oculta.
This was my first RTS game I ever fully completed, and at first things were a little obtuse but I hung on and ended up loving this game. I'm definitely looking forward to playing the DLC, and hopefully a sequel. This game sold me on the genre, and now I really want to go play others like it. That said, the game has optimization problems as I experienced several timeouts and two crashes. If you're someone who can get over that hurdle then this is a title that is worth a try.
Fun RTS campaign
You don't have access to all mods when you buy from steam, wich would be fine if you knew, but they don't mention it on the shop site on steam wich is simply shady buisness.
DOESNT WORK AT ALL ON A PC OLDER THAN FIVE YEARS. FYI WASTED MONEY BECAUSE NO REFUNDS WITH STEAM. COMMUNISTS GAME COMPANY.
