About
Time has fractured. Across a forgotten archipelago, untamed lands, ancient ruins, and creatures from another age now coexist beneath the rule of dinosaurs.
Tawa: Lost in Time is a stylized adventure blending exploration, platforming, action, stealth, and discovery. Follow Naya, a young anthropomorphic fox determined to choose her own path, and Tawa, a small quadrupedal mouse separated from her family by a cataclysm. Their meeting begins a journey in which each heroine has a different scale, different abilities, and a very different way of facing danger.
In the main adventure, you primarily control Naya while Tawa travels beside her across the islands. Run, jump, explore ruins, confront certain creatures, and find a way through territories occupied by dinosaurs.
Tawa’s tiny size becomes essential whenever Naya can go no farther. In selected areas, take control of Tawa to slip into a cave, cross a narrow passage, retrieve an object, or open a route that her companion cannot reach.
Naya recounts how they met as the journey continues, but she does not reveal all of her intentions at once. A missing artifact, growing conflict between the islands, and her true objective form the heart of a story that unfolds gradually.
An Extra mode offers an experience focused more closely on Tawa. The world changes completely when seen through the eyes of a tiny mouse: grass becomes a wall, a root becomes a shelter, and every dinosaur appears enormous.
Tawa cannot rely on Naya’s strength. Watch how creatures move, use the terrain, hide, and choose the right moment to advance. This additional adventure places greater emphasis on survival, stealth, and the feeling of being tiny in a vast prehistoric world.
Cross bright beaches, a tropical island filled with ruins, a scorching desert, snowy mountains, misty swamps, a lush Japanese-inspired forest, and other territories leading toward Tawa’s island. Every biome has its own atmosphere, hidden paths, dangers, and species.
Dinosaurs are more than scenery. Herbivores roam their territories and may flee when threatened. Carnivores observe, pursue prey, and react to the creatures around them. Naya can fight some threats, but against the largest dinosaurs, understanding their behavior and avoiding danger is often the better choice.
Two scales. Two ways to survive. One adventure lost in time.

Tawa: Lost in Time is a surprisingly ambitious adventure, and I liked how it combines exploration, platforming and survival ideas around two very different characters. I play mainly as Naya, a young fox travelling through dinosaur filled islands with Tawa, a tiny mouse who has her own unique abilities. I enjoyed how the relationship between the two characters is built directly into the gameplay. The strongest mechanic for me is switching to Tawa when Naya cannot continue. Because Tawa is much smaller, she can squeeze through narrow passages, enter caves and reach places that Naya cannot. I liked that this is not just a character swap for the sake of variety. Their physical differences actually change how I approach the environment, which gives exploration a nice puzzle element. The main journey mixes movement, exploration and encounters with dinosaurs. Naya can run around the islands, explore ruins and deal with certain creatures, while Tawa's sections are more focused on slipping through dangerous spaces and finding routes forward. I enjoyed the contrast because the two characters create different types of gameplay without making the adventure feel disconnected. The setting is another major strength. The islands are full of ancient ruins, wild landscapes and dinosaurs, giving the game a strong sense of adventure. I liked the colorful presentation because it makes the world feel inviting even when I am moving through dangerous areas. The story also gives the journey emotional weight because both heroines are dealing with separation and survival in different ways. My biggest issue is that the game is still in Early Access, and that shows in some areas. The experience does not always feel polished, and some of the movement and combat can be rough. There are also moments where the pacing slows down more than I would like, especially when I am travelling between more interesting sections. The survival focused Extra mode is a nice addition because it gives Tawa more of a challenge centered role. I liked the idea of taking the tiny character and putting her into a more demanding survival environment, even though I still think the main adventure is the strongest part of the game. Overall, Tawa: Lost in Time is a creative adventure with a lovely central relationship and a genuinely useful character switching mechanic. I enjoyed exploring the dinosaur islands, solving environmental problems with Naya and Tawa and discovering the world around them. It still needs more polish and development, but the foundation is strong and the two character design gives it a clear identity. Rating: 6.5/10

A different type of game finally. Yes it has some problems but it is genuinely a fun game to play. A vast world which made me just want to keep exploring rather than focusing on objectives. The objectives were easy enough to follow esp because of the really convenient compass and waypoint markers. I especially liked that it has a proper ecosystem wherein some creatures will just graze about peacefully, and then there's the predators that attack them and you. A little polish here and there and it could really turn out an amazing game. Highly recommend it and look forward to what its future brings us to.
this game , its a really enjoyable adventure. I loved how clear and easy to learn the gameplay is, while still offering a good mix of exploration, combat, and sneaking. The simple graphics fit the game’s style perfectly, making it a fun experience from start to finish. it's a highly recommended experience.
→→→ EDITED SECTION ←←← The only thing this game has going for it is great music and concept. Original bug list remains until the patch is released →→→ EDITED SECTION ←←← The game is a great concept. Who doesn't want more dinosaur games :D The problem is that, it needs massive polishing if this game is to go anywhere. → 1st time playing: The game lagged at 2 FPS on default settings. → 2nd time playing: The game ran normally at max settings. → 3rd time playing: The terrain disappeared. Bugs: → You can't speak to the first lore bird. → You lose hurt for attacking the lore birds. → Both food and enemies are missing. I saw 1 piece of food and 1 enemy? that was stuck on terrain. (It was a giant PT). → Don't enter the lift beams. They'll lift you up and then deal fall damage. → Dying doesn't end the game or load the last checkpoint (if there are any). Additionally, if you delete save and reset position, you have a chance to spawn under the map or in the dead state. Relaunching the game fixes it. → There is no map boundary. If you fall off the map, you're falling forever in the void. → Your dragonfly companion doesn't render in when the camera is fully zoomed out. → Don't fall down a steep slope. You will be softlocked in place in the falling animation and will clip through the floor. → Idling with the digging animation pushes you to the right, even on flat ground. → Audio settings do nothing. Master volume? Nope. Sound effects? There are no sound effects. Your left click attack makes a sound and that's it. You don't even make a sound when losing 1 hp to hail. Yes, there is weather and a little bit of a day cycle; night is skipped. Music does nothing. The actual music is bound to a slider called "Other". The only good thing i can say: The music is amazing.
Well, this is not early access, this is ancient access, fr. Unplayable. I really tried it, well, the few minutes I played it at least. I do not bother to start with the bugs, that makes this game unplayable. I like dinosaurs. Yay. But fr not playable.
Game needs a looot of work. I can see the premise in the game, and maybe it'll get better in the future as time goes on, but it's so annoying that I'm constantly taking damage from enemies that are nowhere near me. Crocodiles on my tail? Sure, I can understand that. But raptors chasing and damaging me from a mile behind or even giant dinosaurs that would NEVER know a tiny little mouse is there and are trying to attack me is just ridiculous. They can hit you from 100 feet away at least. Movement speed of everything is so slow. Why am I taking 30 business days to jump over a rock in slow motion? Some of the assets also use AI garbage and that's an immediate red flag for me. :/ AI also has to be disclaimed per Steam policy so people know whether to play or not. I want to like this game, but between all the issues and using AI, I just can't recommend it, at this moment. Remove the AI with actual art and clean the game up a bit. I hope this game gets better because I do like the idea of playing as a mouse trying to navigate a scary prehistoric world.
