Cutout World

"Cutout World" is pure garbage of the worst kind. It an empty sandbucket... basically the developer wants you to buy Generative AI tokens from him to then use generative AI to generate content for his game. This comes across as a bit of a scam... we don't know what markup this guy is putting on the tokens, probably a lot... and all just so you can pay him for the privilege of getting a generative AI (that isn't even his) to generate content for this game. WTF, seriously. This is cancer. This features fairly low quality low poly 3D visuals which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and it's clear the developers behind this didn't understand that. This isn't really free as the game is infested with mobile app store like microtransactions for buying tokens. This is a consumer hostile model that we don't need to see on PC. It's deceptively priced to gouge gamers, and that's a reason in itself to avoid this. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 3 concurrent players, and now there's basically nobody playing it. Even though it's free. This is a dismal public reception, but it's easy to see why gamers rejected it. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off. Here's the first sentence of the store blurb for the game: [quote]Cutout World is a sandbox UGC game that lets you create your own game with generative AI.[/quote] It's unclear why the developer breached Valve guidelines with such self contradicting dishonesty, especially when it's so easily proven. Really, truly weird. Nothing in the developers pointless breach of Valve guidelines changes any of the objective facts of my review. My review stands unaltered. I cannot recommend this game to anyone.
