The game does not work online and hangs on an attempt to connect. This is not worth your purchasing time. Find something else to play.
I can't even start to play because the game crashes every time. It did let me create a My ashmodee account but doesn't let me log in without crashing.
I had played online for a few years. However about six months ago it started to freeze when you try to play online. Requests for support go unanswered. No notice that it is no longer supported, is being fixed. Just silence from the developers.
I don't recommend this game if you're going to play solo I love the board game, but every time I play this version I'm reminded why it's been so long since I've played it. I hate playing against this AI. It is very skewed. It seems the Panda AI will always get exactly what it needs and the game is over before it really begins. There is also a LOT of extra icon clicking that I really wish didn't exist, or at least had a setting to turn off. I dislike having to click on my screen 5 times during the AI's turn. I know "against AI" probably isn't the main concern, but that's the reason I buy board games digitally, if I had other people to play with, I'd just play the physical game :( But it'd be nice to win every once in a while :/ Other than that, if you're playing with others or whatever, it's a beautiful game with nice music and it's fun to play when it's balanced.
I bought this because I own the board game and its good for when no-one wants to play or you don't want to get everything out and set up, it's a really fun game that's easy to learn but involves some strategy and forward thinking to earn the points you need to win.
While I enjoy Takenoko the board game, this implementation is poorly made and frustrating. It's as if no one actually tested how the gameplay is after they developed it. Some points for developers to consider in an update (if that may come): - I should be able to look at my cards AT ALL TIMES! When others players play I cannot see my cards. Also, if I select an action I cannot click on my cards to see them (if I have 5 cards then one is covering the other)! How am I to select a tile or an improvement if I cannot see my cards...? - Also, when "question mark" rolls or "cloud" rolls and I have to select either a Dice or Improvement, I cannot exit that screen to temporarily view the board! How am I supposed to make a choice of those if I cannot clearly see the board? - Please have the AI players do their actions without me having to press OK every time... If I want to see their actions then perhaps I can click on their name and see what they've done... - These are the rules of 1st edition. Perhaps give the option to select rules for the 2nd edition as well for people like me who never played 1st edition board game and only played 2nd edition? - I don't see any stats being recorded here. I think it's important to be able to keep stats. There are other comments but I think these should be addressed as soon as possible if this game has any luck of being played by a wider audience.
Second negative review for a table game ported into pc in one night. I was happy to buy Takenoko with discount. So happy. I have heard the best about this game. Then I played it. I could see JACK. The green had to be that close to the yellow, hadnt it? IT ABSOLUTELY HAD TO, RIGHT? I MEAN THIS IS PROBABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECT OF THE GAME, MAKING DIFFERENT TILES DIFFICULT TO DISCERN? I am not colourblind, its something else, similar. What a dissapointment. There could have been a mark, small y or g. There could have been an animation that shows you, once completed an objective what was completed on the map. No. Nothing. If you know, you know. If you dont you can always bother your friends about it. Until they no longer want to play as well. One thing I have struggled to take in my whole life is why people are so stuck on color coding WHEN WE HAVE ALREADY DEVELOPED LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICS TO COMMUNICATE NOTIONS!!!!! Bunch of kindergardens!!!!!!!!!
