Good.
It's a very indie tactical game, with many aspects not fully clean, like the UI adaptation for Keyboard+Mouse, the game seems more done for Gamepad. The random encounters seem lack of right scaling. If I enjoyed the plot or sub plots, in details the writing is sometimes a bit light. I quoted some bugs. You can use mounts as horses but it's working weirdly and feels a bit unfinished even if it's cool. The whole classes/jobs system widely inspired by Final Fantasy Tactic is hardly fully well tuned because of the potential complexity it has, some skills feels a bit OP for example. Still I finished a full play, got a good fun all along, and it was a series of good combats in a solid combat system, and a plot cool to follow but don't except anything big, that's indie. So I advise it despite numerous flaws. It's mainly for the combats, the character building system perhaps inspired by FFT but also very different because of some key differences, and the plot is cool to follow. For the UI problems with keyboard+mouse, use mainly the Top Down view (when playing escape shows the list of commands), and as you can't bind yourself the keys, for no Ameican keyboards, the key for top down view won't work so you'll need change OS setup to make the keyboard as English USA.

I really wanted to enjoy this game, but it's just not at the level of quality it needs to be. This game is a Strategy RPG in the same style as Final Fantasy Tactics. I enjoyed several modern SRPG games, particularly Fell Seal. What makes modern SRPGs enjoyable are all of the quality of life features, the beautiful HD art, the addictive tactical gameplay, and the engaging story. It's fun in those games to experiment with strategies, builds, and team composition. Unfortunately, this game misses the mark that every other major modern SRPG manages to achieve. The graphics are stylized and interesting, but the fidelity of these graphics are very poor. The art assets don't appear to be HD (the loading screen and overworld maps have a lot of pixelation and seem amateur). The dithering effects are bothersome (though they can be disabled, it gives everything else such a flat look that it degrades the overall appearance of the game). Animations are very simple. The dialogue windows provide animated character portraits, but these portraits are often poorly animated, clip into themselves, and the character's face is not always visible. The game is incredibly tedious. The controls are very strange and inconvenient, requiring a lot of left/right clicking to toggle in or out of menus rather than allowing free clicking and interpreting the action based on context. Every action must be confirmed and re-confirmed, so even taking a single turn is incredibly tedious. There are several battles where if your team composition isn't suitable, you're going to be wasting turns frequently for team members that cannot suitably engage in battle. The size of battles and the character's action economies feel stifling (we are no longer in the SNES era, I'd like to see the genre move forward by upping the scale a bit). Overall, playing the game just feels like a chore. The gameplay itself is fairly standard SRPG fare. The classes and abilities are very mundane. Most powers are slight variations on one another with different damage types, or deal slightly more damage the cost of PP. I expect a little more focus on the mechanics in a game that's all about tactics. Most battles turn into battles of attrition and preparation by ensuring that your character is suitably geared and leveled. A good team composition will render some battles trivial, and others very hard, and there's no good way of knowing the style of mission until you play it (so save scumming is promoted). For how standard the gameplay is, it just doesn't have a loop that feels good like other games in the genre. I wish more games would experiment with stepping outside of the genre's conventions - maybe XP isn't awarded per-action, per-battle. Maybe skills aren't gained by spending SP. Maybe equipment isn't just about pumping stats but have other effects? The story seems very standard stuff. It's a little boring, but serviceable. There's a war on, and your brigade is caught in the middle of it. There are dialogue choices, but it's unclear to me how any of the dialogue choices actually affected the progress of the story. In one case, I went from a dramatic moment in one mission to totally releasing the tension with no consequence in the next. However, despite the dialogue suggesting there would be no battle, battle resulted anyway. It seemed like the devs created a battle, and just changed the dialogue that instigates the exact same battle. Just play the script on auto-pilot if there is no effect. If there is effect, make it clearer in the story/dialogue. If I don't fight some battles, or the battles are fought in different environments, or different combatants, then this might be cool. As it stands, choosing between "..." or "Yes" is not an interesting choice. Make choices and consequences shine and make them clear if they are even provided to the player. Overall, I'd recommend playing the other modern releases in the genre first, and only resort to this game if you're very dedicated to the genre and you've already played the other big ones. I also feel like the design of the game is probably tailored for consoles/controllers rather than mouse/keyboard, so maybe consider playing on a console.
Terrific game with lots of customization options for characters. Love the new game plus feature, and am having a fun time on my second go around. Would recommend for anyone that enjoyed final fantasy tactics.
Eh a FF Tactics ripoff. Good enough to scratch that itch
Updated, they fixed my issue. [FIXED] Saved my game at the observatory. When i came back my lastest hired merc was bugged and for some reason i lost all the powers i had purchase on all my mercs... I wont play from the begining again; [/FIXED] The HUD is HORRIBLE, trying to select targets is a pain in the ass and later fights get boring fast as the AI just prolongs fights with healing consumables. I heard this was better than fell seal, i got bored with that game half way... but, for sure, fell seal was at least a FUNCTIONAL GAME, with clear mechanics and even if the dialogue was anime at least it wasn't HORRENDOUS as it is in obsidian brigade, jesus christ! can't hire a writer at least? As it is right now i wouldnt recommend it. But if its something that you wanna play I want to point out they were quick to fix my issue, ill continue to post the bugs i find in hopes of a better game. Actualized: 02/06/2023 FIXED
good game actually its a hidden gem among tactic rpg games. the story mode is actually descent paled to most other games it plays identical to "FFT" final fantasy tactics its actually kinda generic could add more jobs and skills but i like how it actually makes a unit into a killing machine if you build them right. oh yea developers this game could really use mods to make less generic and more "unique" content in game and to better some physical features of characters such as the eyes....
I enjoyed it. Combat allows for fun builds and strategies, without relying too much on a specific "meta" build. Grinding is available, but not really that necessary. Late game enemies seem to be untouchable by either melee or magic, so having a variety becomes essential. Story is serviceable. Could have used some QoL updates- way too many loading screens, some things aren't very intuitive (I never did figure out exactly how hit chance is determined), and the mount system is neat on paper but in practice implemented poorly, as anyone required by a story battle seems to lose the mount automatically. Also, I found it challenging to determine if LoS was blocked, even with the ranged trajectory skill. I enjoyed it overall. Didn't outstay its welcome. Finished in ~16 hours.
Great fun in co-op, definitely want to use a controller for the best experience
