[Update] Game has gone free to play now so its well worth checking out. I just wanted to do this update due to some of the negative feedback i have seen on the reviews. A few people are saying bad things about the developer. I just want to say that I have had nothing but help from this developer. Also I did not know this developer prior to playing the game 1.)When i first started i didnt understand the rules of the game. The developer gave me private 1 on 1 to show me how it worked. 2.)Any updates and issues developer contacted me told me plans and asked for feedback. 3.)Any time i had a question developer replied pretty much straight away. 4.)I bought this game before it was free to play. But there was some problem with my key. Developer fixed this issue straight away even though he didnt have to and made sure everything was working perfect. 5.)Developer has always been only polite friendly and helpful. I just wanted to put that up because one or two review give a very wrong impression of this developer. As far as im concerned this is exactly the kind of developer I would want on all games but rarely have seen someone so helpful. This is the kind of developer we should be supporting in my opinion and in my experience.. ----- [Original Review] This game is excellent. I have just started playing recently but I find it very addictive already. Its simultanious turn based hex game. It kind of reminds me of mixture between chess and the battle phase of heroes of might and magic. When i first played this i really wanted to like it but i could not understand the rules so I could not get into it. I was going to give up but instead i contacted the developer. I didnt expect any reply but he got in contact with me right away. I was really surprised by that and I told him what the problems I was having understanding the game. He then invited me to play against him 1 on 1 and showed me how the mechanics work in a game. After that the game made sense to me and it went from being a game i wanted to like to a game i am starting to love. I have only played a few hours so far but really feel this is a game i could play a lot. I have seen some complaints about developer but from my experience he has been great and provided very friendly and in depty customer service. Also I have seen a bad review and I had the same problems when i didnt understand the rules but I have been told that the FAQ of the rules will be going up in the coming days so that should solve all those issues. If you like turn based tactical games I would highly recommend this. I have not written any reviews on steam before but I feel this is a gem of a game that could be missed if people dont find out about it. The game at this moment is multiplayer only so it needs to grow the community. My experience of matches in this game was great. Once you understand the mechanics you will find yourself engrossed in every turn and you have to think about every single move to try create any small advantage you can over your opponent and try stop him getting an advantage over you. It seems quite simple at first but as you get into a game it is actually very nuanced and complex. Sometimes and hour could pass of playing and it feels like only 5 minutes. Because the moves are made simultaneously you have to try second guess what your opponent will do and also how to use the terrain and your particular character classes to try out manouver your opponent. Although this game is in early access it is at this moment in my opinion a complete game as it stands. I dont know where the developers plan to take this. Possibly add different units etc i have no idea but as it stands it plays great and is complete in and of itself. I would like this game to do well mainly because I really enjoy it and if it does well it would mean I would always have people to play against. If you are still unure after reading this I would recommend at least try the demo and give it a few hours. Also look out for the FAQ which should be out soon from what I have been told because once you understand the rules the game is great.

This game would be cool if it had a multiplayer lobby, or any multiplayer games. When you choose multiplayer it takes you to an A.I. match for some reason. There are no tools to tell you if you are in multiplayer que or how long you have been in que or even a lobby. I guess they wanted people to play vs. AI while waiting for multiplayer, but playing the AI is incredibly dull, and with no que timer, I played about 20 minutes and never got into any real games, I think I was qued but who knows. Maybe I was just playing at an odd time when no one else was, there is no multplayer lobby or list of games, so for me it was just a simple vs AI game, and really not worth the time.
Early access Review A good game, with a promising future.Tactical Genious is what this game is going to make of you. What makes this game so good and unique is that there is no RNG element in this game,it's like Chess.Atacks always hit(if there is something to hit of corse). There are no percentages in this game.I repeat % this does not exist! The only RNG is you don't know how your Opponent will act,and this requires you to guees his move and adapt your strategy. But hey,the same goes for the Opponent. He also has to guess your moves. And this is what Tactical Genious is about, just like in real lfe. Despite the fact that this game is Free to play, there is no Pay To Win mechanic. IF you are fun of X-com,Ufo series or just a good Chess player, you will find this game worth your time, especially with friends.
Nice game. Played several times and like it. I would like to see more race and unit types (though one that they have now seems well balanced to me). I hope new unit`s types wouldn't ruin that. Also would be glad to see new terrain types and biomes. And of course bigger maps ;) If you ever played Battle for Wesnoth or similar games, you would definitely like that game also. One other thing that distinct that game from the others, is possibility of simultaneous moves. Haven't seen that in any other games. That dramatically increases the game speed and forces you to anticipate opponents tactics. This game worth its money.
Great game. Sometimes it's a true nailbiter. Especially, when your opponent finds a sequence, you didn't think of. Sometimes it's about reading the opponent's plans, sometimes it's simply down to luck, as you have to choose between two equally likely moves and have to guess, which one your opponent will choose to counter accordingly.
There's no way to play against your friends. You can play 2v2. With today's Peak player count of 4 you're pretty unlikely to find an opponent online.
I'll copy this for ya:
Thu, March 1, 2018 Important information Thanks to everyone who played Tactical Genius at the development stage and after coming out of Early Access. But due to insufficient interest in the game, we've disabled the possibility to purchase in-game currency and stopped updating the game a long time ago. Now we have to make the decision on the shutting down of the game in the nearest future. Anyway, we gained valuable experience and we hope to meet you in our new projects.
Your typical turn-based game. If you played any turn-based before then this will be cake. I didn't feel as if their was a ton of uniqueness or anything too exciting. One thing I liked greatly is in vs AI battles you can use all unit available; which lets you try out units you can't even use yet. 2v2 matches are a bit more exciting, but the game does not offer the highly sought after 3v3, 5v5 or higher teamplay. I feel a great unique idea would be starting guilds and having a 10v10 guild vs Guild battles and team vs team 5v5 arena matches and a 10 FFA. I was curious about the gold in the game, but even if I wanted to buy some, there seems to be no in-game way to purchase any. Maybe you need to purchase from their main website or something, but I didn't pursue past looking in-game. Maybe in time more will be offered, but if you want an easy to turn off/on game, this is it! Matches are very quick from my experience. Overall rating = 7/10 ...due to my love for turn-based, but probably not going to play this until more game mode options are offered and increased in size. Not saying it's a bad game at all just lacking a bit to keep my interest...
Not recommended. The devs have unlisted this on Steam Store and have run away! Avoid!
