Seemed abandoned due to about a year plus of no updates at time of my review, will update after trying again
Yet another failed and abandoned early access game, where they expect the community to fill it with content...
It's like tts but 10 times worse.
I looked closely into Tabletop Playground and Tabletop Simulator as an option for my friend group. I chose Tabletop Playground for the user interface, ease of modding, and better engine. I don't regret my choice one bit. Since getting this game, I've dabbled a few hours in the editor, made my own version of settlers, and feel confident that I could port in almost any game that I'd want to play with my friends (Cities and Knights is my next project). Super easy editor tools, works well with mod.io, excellent physics engine and graphics, and awesome game selection. Look no further if looking to get a vitrual board game space for you and your friend group
It's like TableTopSimulator but mechanically better in every way. The downside is that there's fewer mods and they're limited to mod.io only, and because there's so few players there's almost no tutorials to guide you through more complex things. Worth it if you're making your own game though.
It's clunky, it crashes a lot, it doesn't have a lot of users nor a lot of mods. It's just not very good. The only reason I bought this was to play TI4 as they were moving development over to this, and I think I'd rather just not play it online anymore. Yes, it's that awful. It looks worse than TTS. It runs worse than TTS. It has fewer users and fewer games to play. Maybe coding for it is easier but if that were true why are there so few games for it? I'd recommend you give this one a pass and stick to TTS.
Great for TI4, non laggy. Good buy for friend groups looking to play boardgames digitally
Could not get game to run. Kept freezing on the loading screen. Returned for refund after troubleshooting for 3 hours.
The Table Top Simulator we didn't need.
Tabletop Playground (TTP) thus far seems like an improvement over Tabletop Simulator (TTS). - TTP has a clearer, faster, and more elegant user interface. - TTP has more options for batch creating tiles, whereas in TTS you load individual image files one at a time. - TTP has an easier/better interface for allowing pieces to snap together. - TTP has overall better feel and aesthetics (subjective, I know). - TTP doesn't have a big splash of blood in the loading screen, which always seemed weird about TTS... Haven't ran into any bugs yet. Also very glad to hear that Dire Wolf Digital is involved in TTP. They make what are, by far, the best digital adaptations of board games.
