Liked the atmosphere, the voice acting, tho wasnt as spooky as i thought itd be. Even though 5 bucks isnt much these days, its a bit much for what is offered. Performance on Steam Deck mostly solid aside from few frame drops, also had to use a different proton layer.
<注意>
<感想>

I bought the game at a chance going by a brief trailer from an indie showcase thing. I consider the game quite made and the story was very well written and presented. In regards to the topic I am happy that it went into the direction it did, as I grew very, very uncomfortable during playing it, as my assumption went into a completly different direction that I would have not appreciated. Though in hindsight that might have been my lack of interpretation, I am somewhat terrible at getting metaphors. Other than that, I played it for 1,9 hours and got all the ending, though didn't find all the cats. The 5,53€ were well spent and I wouldn't mind the 6,19€. I didn't encounter any real bugs but would advice two things: * If you have button prompts activated, realize that some there might be a prompt missing. When in doubt try all the doors. * If you walk into a room and walk out, the door might look behind you (intending for you not to return), and you might get stuck. Like I did in the bathroom. In this case, just quit to the main menu and then hit continue. It will start the chapter over. There was only one thing that confused me:
I used every chance to look into every mirror I found. Which has the effect of shutting the bathroom door and creating a jump scare when going to the next room. I am not sure what that was about? It wasn't like a death, I think, it just happened. Again and again (I am kinde stubborn)
Otherwise, if you want to have the story spoiled, yet not want to read the trigger warning:
I would describe it as a videogame version of "I Saw The TV glow". I found the characters way to discover their identity as a transwomen portrayed interestingly and it was engaging.. Though the ending still was a bit confusing.
Some ending advice, maybe as a warning:
I opened the - in my opinion - wrong door at the end and figure that now that I have opened it I have to walk through it. Which let to a rather depressing ending, I'd say. You don't have to walk through the door but can peek at the other one.
I Saw The PS3 Glow
T.W.I.R.L.
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS! This game is a unique and excellent depiction of a young boy in 2006 battling through an identity crisis while living within a very traditional, Christian family. The horror aspect of the game is not really in any jump-scares or the gameplay itself, but more of the story telling of a very real horror that many young children face growing up. The pressured societal "norms" to be what you are "supposed" to be, when your heart is telling you that you are someone else than what the world around you expects. While the "demons" you hide within yourself can not help but be revealed. This was depicted wonderfully and eerily through many aspects: - The room you awake in is filled with things a young boy would be expected to love and enjoy based off gender roles. (Guitar hero, an open wardrobe that is dark and dreary from the protagonist's perspective, a PS3 (which was released in 2006) showing a great detail in the parents assuming their son would play video games and got it immediately upon release. But when the PS3 opening screen comes up it shows that a profile has not been created. - The room of the protagonist's sister is filled with things for her cat, a colorful wardrobe of items, and has the room attached to a bathroom. Implying that the daughter needs more space to take care of her appearance as a girl. While also being given an extra gift for Christmas so that she can "have something to wear for church." - The "demon" entity that follows you throughout the game progressively becomes more present as years go by in game time. Showing the tension of this boy battling his identity growing to unbearable and horrific extents. - The girlfriend the protagonist has also seems to be representing of the boy's obligated feeling to uphold the standard he is expected to have. A person that you can tell the protagonist cares for, but his inner knowingness and longing to dress like a girl to feel more himself remains stronger, while you feel increasing tension between the protagonist and his girlfriend because of this. I also got the sense that she could be representing the identity he aligns with, based off her name being Rose and the symbolism of the Rose on the dress that the boy wanted to wear. - As you play through the chapters, you grow slowly taller. But once the trauma induced by the parents finding out their son was secretly using his sister's clothes to dress like a girl, the game begins to transcend a sense of time. In the chapter after the parents find out via the girlfriend, the protagonist is suddenly crawling on hands and knees - showing his feeling of vulnerability and reverting back into a terrified baby as his parents are screaming at each other about how their son is an abomination that they should have seen coming and tried to stop. With the "demon" hiding under his bed, further showing the increasing fear of being seen for the protagonist's true reality and identity. - The game warns you from the beginning to not look into the mirror. I played 2 runs, one that I looked in the mirror as much as possible, and one where I did not look once. When you play the game looking into the mirror every chance you get, the "demon" grows stronger and faster. Because every time you look into the mirror, you go back and forth between seeing a blurred vision of the boy you are, and then a girl while the mirror becomes a constant reminder that the protagonist does not feel like themselves for what they are told to be. - As the chapters go on, you revert back into a younger child before his sister's cat passed away, as if the trauma is having the protagonist revert back into a reality when his secret was still safe from the world to cope. - Once the protagonist finally wears the dress, the entire reality around you becomes the dress. Which made me feel that him finally wearing the dress put him into the reality of his true identity that has been haunting him for years. And represented the messy lines of how difficult and unknowing stepping into your true reality is after living in hiding, a space you were comfortable hiding for so long. - The 3 endings were spectacular. And you don't have to replay the entire game again to experience all 3. But the endings lie within the choices the protagonist has to make knowing how it could effect his life in different ways. - I would also love to point out that the voice acting was spot on. In the beginning of the game when the boy was young, I even initially thought I was playing as girl until his mother called him "son" and his voice slowly started to mature. Special shoutout the scene when the parent's are fighting. Not only was that scene deeply symbolic, but the actors truly shined in that scene. As well as the boy at the end of the game on the phone, calling Rose and leaving a voicemail. Indicating in my sense that even in his adulthood, he was still battling the "demon" to that day even years later. I read the article from the Dev - and I must say that this is incredible work, very thoughtfully made, and I love the duality of this game also representing the creator's fear of making a video game when they had been doing film for years. Under the belief that it is all they could do, under the identity of a film maker. Same as the boy struggling with his gender identity. I could add even more here, but I've basically already written a paper like I'm doing the longest discussion board post for a college class. You simply must play the game. Feel and see these things for yourself and let it speak to you in your own way, as it did for me. I highly recommend this game and I look forward to what you create next!!!
