A marble rolling game that really has nothing to do with rolling a ball. Marble rolling games are generally known to be tough physics based platforming games. Usually these games have high skill ceilings and require you to plan ahead based on the physics effects on your ball. Momentum conservation, dealing with navigating tight paths, learning how and when to start changing direction. These are the things that come to mind when I think of a marble rolling game. Switchball is NOT this. Switchball is, fundamentally, a very easy puzzle game. Yes, you control a ball, and there are some physics interactions, but those physics have almost nothing to do with momentum and everything to do with weight. Now, if you want a simple puzzle game, maybe you'll enjoy this, and that's fine, but I got real tired of this game real fast. This game is SLOW, like, unbelievably slow. Each level starts with you on a little gyro-copter platform that takes about 3 seconds to get to the drop off point, so every level is at least 3 seconds longer than it needs to be. Next, the movement of the game is like moving through molasses, there is a very low top speed and you'll reach it almost immediately, but there are thing that reduce your speed even further. The first "tool" you are given is the ability to make your ball bigger and heavier to move heavier objects. When you are larger, you move slower, and lose the ability to roll up hills, limiting what you are able to do. Most puzzles I encountered required you to simply move boxes into a certain postition to allow for future movement through a level. Once I hit a level that required I make myself slower and move 5 different crates to make progress, I knew this game wasn't for me. There is no real challenge to this game, the "puzzles" don't require thought, just movement, and everything in the game is super slow. This game might be good for newer gamers, or people who want something slow for whatever reason, but if you want something challenging, or something that is simply fun to play, this isn't it.
Played on XBOX 360 and was thrilled to see it here on steam with some nice enhancements! I'm old and as a kid in the 80s I loved Marble Madness on the NES and this is a great modern take on this rare genre of gaming with awesome unique variances that modern technology has made possible!LOVE THIS GAME that has a special place in my heart!
童年回忆
Excelente juego.. lo liquidé en el 2008 y ahora volverlo a jugar es jodidamente épico! recomiendo escalarlo con algun programa como el "Lossless Scaling" asi se disparan unos FPS mas y cambia bastante!
Switchball is a spiritual successor to "Ballance", a puzzle game that came out in 2004 for Windows XP. I'd have to say that I liked Ballance more, thought it had more of a cool vibe to it but Switchball is a great little fun game. This game came out in 2005, made by a different developer and it definitely has that sort of Xbox 360 "fun arcadey" aesthetic. I would say the game is easier than Ballance, and probably I would have liked the game to be a bit more challenging, but it's nothing to complain about. The music is great for each "world", just your typical gamey well-done synth melodies. Hmm, apart from that not much else to say, dont think the HD did much, game looked great back then, looks great now. I know this was perfect as an Xbox 360 Arcade Indie title 15+ years ago. The devs that made this game made it in 5 months........... That was normal back then though.
Light puzzle/marble hybrid. Love that having a time limit is optional. Good fun, give it go.
Envolvente, te atrapa desde el primer segundo
https://youtu.be/7yL9WuEVkSw Slowing pushing a ball against blocks to setup physics based puzzles is a slog of a time.
A fun ball game heavily inspired by the ball game Ballance where you roll around as a ball doing puzzley ball stuff. Compared to Ballance, this tries to lean more towards puzzles, though the puzzles are very much on the easy side, especially in the early worlds. The graphics are a big highlight. One big bummer about this release is that they didn't move over the co-op content that was create for the Xbox 360 release.
