getting 150 seconds was the most frustrated a game could make you feel
It's fun, especially after something extremely heavy and harsh like UBERMOSH. After that one... this feels like a vacation trip, and a very welcoming one.

I think it's okay, but it feels like getting a better score is largely down to RNG. Most skill guides seem to just be 'stay right and wag the mouse a lot until epic win', and that's not particularly fun, even for a free game. Also, no settings or options to tweak, so if the game gives you a headache, sucks to be you etc.
fun but I recommend part two as its way more difficult.
A little basic but i'll give it that it's clearly a different take on Ubermosh's shoot em up style.
SWARMRIDERS is a fast-paced arcade action title developed and published by Walter Machado that demonstrates how much excitement can be created with a focused concept and a clear understanding of classic arcade design. Set within the broader universe established by the UBERMOSH games, this standalone experience combines endless runner mechanics with twin-stick shooting, creating a gameplay loop that is both simple to understand and surprisingly challenging to master. Rather than relying on lengthy campaigns or complex progression systems, the game concentrates entirely on delivering short bursts of intense action. The premise places players in control of a younger Blade Saint during her days as a mercenary rider. Mounted on a high-speed vehicle and racing through hostile territory, she must survive waves of enemies while maintaining forward momentum. Although the narrative takes a back seat to the gameplay, it provides an interesting glimpse into the history of the UBERMOSH setting. The futuristic backdrop and cyberpunk themes add flavor to the experience without distracting from the action-focused design. What immediately stands out is the game's unique fusion of genres. Endless runners typically focus on avoiding hazards and maintaining movement, while twin-stick shooters emphasize aiming and crowd control. SWARMRIDERS successfully merges these ideas into a single experience where both skills are equally important. Players must constantly dodge threats while simultaneously targeting enemies approaching from multiple directions. The result is a gameplay loop that demands concentration and quick reactions at all times. Combat is the centerpiece of the experience. Enemies swarm the screen in large numbers, forcing players to make split-second decisions regarding positioning and target prioritization. The controls are highly responsive, allowing movement and shooting to feel precise even during the most chaotic encounters. Every successful run becomes a test of reflexes and awareness as players attempt to survive increasingly dangerous waves of attackers while maintaining control of the battlefield. One of the game's strongest qualities is its sense of momentum. There is almost no downtime once a run begins. The action remains constant, with enemies arriving relentlessly and challenges escalating at a steady pace. This approach creates an adrenaline-fueled rhythm that keeps players fully engaged. Matches are relatively short, making it easy to jump in for a quick session, yet the desire to improve performance and achieve higher scores encourages repeated attempts. The visual presentation embraces a retro-inspired pixel-art style that complements the arcade nature of the gameplay. The graphics are intentionally simple, but they serve an important purpose by ensuring clarity during intense battles. Even when the screen becomes crowded with enemies, projectiles, and visual effects, players can still identify threats and react accordingly. The cyberpunk-inspired color palette and futuristic designs provide enough personality to make the game visually memorable without sacrificing readability. Sound design plays an equally important role in shaping the experience. The energetic soundtrack drives the action forward and reinforces the game's relentless pace. Heavy electronic influences blend naturally with the futuristic setting, creating an atmosphere that feels both aggressive and stylish. The music successfully amplifies the excitement of surviving difficult encounters and contributes significantly to the game's overall identity. The arcade structure gives SWARMRIDERS a strong replay factor. Rather than progressing through a traditional campaign, players are encouraged to focus on improving their skills and chasing higher scores. Every defeat feels like an opportunity to learn, and each new attempt provides another chance to refine strategies and push further. This design philosophy captures the spirit of classic arcade games, where mastery comes through repetition and gradual improvement. Another notable strength is the game's efficiency. Nothing feels unnecessary or bloated. Menus are straightforward, mechanics are introduced quickly, and players are allowed to begin the action almost immediately. This streamlined approach keeps the focus entirely on gameplay and demonstrates confidence in the core mechanics. The game never wastes time with unnecessary systems or lengthy explanations, allowing the action to speak for itself. However, SWARMRIDERS is intentionally limited in scope. Players looking for extensive progression systems, large amounts of content, or significant gameplay variety may find the experience somewhat brief. The core mechanics are enjoyable, but the game remains centered on a single gameplay loop. While that loop is polished and engaging, it may not provide enough long-term depth for everyone. The difficulty can also be intimidating. The rapid pace leaves little room for mistakes, and later stages become increasingly demanding. Newcomers may struggle initially as they adapt to managing movement, aiming, and survival simultaneously. Yet for players who enjoy arcade-style challenges, this steep difficulty curve becomes one of the game's greatest strengths rather than a weakness. Ultimately, SWARMRIDERS succeeds because it understands exactly what it wants to be. It does not attempt to compete with large-scale action games or introduce unnecessary complexity. Instead, it focuses on delivering an intense blend of shooting and survival wrapped in a stylish cyberpunk package. The combination of responsive controls, satisfying combat, strong audiovisual presentation, and addictive score-chasing mechanics results in an experience that remains entertaining despite its modest size. For fans of arcade shooters, retro-inspired action games, and high-score challenges, SWARMRIDERS offers a rewarding and energetic experience. Its straightforward design, relentless pacing, and commitment to pure gameplay make it a standout example of how effective simplicity can be when executed well. Rating: 8/10
