Wanted a offline Sudoku app: generate or paste a puzzle, play it, no always-online websites. Steam Store page looked good. Bought it. This is not what I wanted and expected. It’s the Cracking the Cryptic interface. Pencilmarks - corner marks, centre marks, colours - great if you already live in that world, a mess if you just wanted a beginner-level 9×9 candidate grid. There are a handful of included puzzles; most are hard, some get rated as brute-force territory by ordinary solvers. Fine for CtC fans. Not a beginner pack. Import is the real dealbreaker for outsiders. You can’t just paste an 81-character string or text grid. You paste only `sudokupad://` links. People already say the free CtC web app is ahead of this Steam build. And anything from a random website is cell-by-cell manual insert. Verdict: only worth it if you watch Cracking the Cryptic, and specifically need it offline. If you don’t know what CtC is, skip it. If you do know - the web version is free and more up to date, so you still need a real offline reason to pay.
