well well well, why does the developer think i have three more friends. this is unlogical. gamers dont have many friends.
Not understanding why the game makes it so you need 4 players in total even if you have an AI enemy. I understand it isn't a singleplayer game where I could select 1 player vs 1-2 ai enemies, but not letting us do 2 players isn't right. Allow us to-do 2 players vs ai and it'll make myself and my 1 and only friend play again. Thanks, Z
Making a game 'early access' doesn't excuse that it's a bad game. It's obvious they focused more on graphics than making the game stable and presentable, yet the environments look like they were dunked in a grease fryer and the characters look like they smoke meth. All of the character animations try too hard to look cool. Survivors swing around like magical girls, and the controls define the phrase 'jank'. Zombies waddle around like they're trying not to poop themselves and attack like they're swatting flies. Even if you excuse the bad graphics and controls, have fun trying to play. The game can and will crash at any given time, and the UE4 error dialog confirms that it's bad programming. I'll bet you most of the game was made in the blueprint instead of actual code. I know this review is brutally pessimistic, but you can't excuse a bad game because you see potential. If a game has problems, you need to express them. Strongly. If any staff over at Redivided Studios read this, you need better knowledge on game development and how to use Unreal Engine. If you want Survive the Hill to be a successful game, you're going to have to work your butt off and make a lot of changes.
I'm gonna give this game a good review because it was decent and not entirely bad but it would be more in between being a 6/10. I played for 2 hours and probably got a hour of game-play all the other time being spent looking for games and people leaving but usually it was good on that. The lack of players though is a problem and takes a bit to find a game or you can make your own lobby and wait. If you try to find a lobby it is kinda a chore because you have to keep clicking on the look for game button if you don't find one instantly until you manage to finally find a game. Some people may say that they have a discord where you can find people to play with and I won't say for sure but it doesn't seem too active when it comes to finding people to play with. The managers and dev give answers to your questions for the most part which is good and I like a lot. Gameplay - Lets get into the actual game-play this game offers you. The movement is good for the most part I did have some issue with it but not a lot when it comes to randomly vaulting some things I didn't want and the hand cart being a slight pain to turn. The zombies are a fun addition though are quite annoying after a bit with their mechanics. To fight them well you would preferably use your melee which has a durability until it breaks, you would need to go to a repair bench to be able to fight again with it. I think you should be able to punch in this situation or kick, just really something to stun them to get away or to just be of some use to the team and help if it does break. The zombies have a grab mechanic which is nice but is a little problem because they will grab you before you can even swing right when you get into the distance you need to be to hit them and its instant, though its only sometimes not a lot but is a bit annoying. Melee combat is a problem mainly because you don't lunge you just stand there like a wall and swing your weapon around like a maniac. The Clown/Killer is a bit broken in a way when it comes to stun locking you with their melee attack which I believe they made it so you can roll to get away but I didn't really get to that point to say how good or bad it is so this isn't too important but should be taken into consideration. To make up for all this Survivors have weapons that can instantly kill the Clown like a Revolver, Crossbow, and all the explosive devices. This is quite annoying as Killer I would imagine because you instantly die when they hit you with the guns and there's not much you can do about it besides do your dash which makes you vanish and quickly move towards the direction you look. The Survivors objective is to fix a car which to my belief has way to many things you need to do before you can escape. The Hand carts help only so much and from the entire time playing even with a full team of good players I still have yet to see a team of survivors manage to win against a Clown whether it be AI or player controlled. The last issue I can think of for the time I write this review is just being unable to play the game alone. Given if you were to try you would definitely lose but you would be able to play the game when nobody is on which is quite common.
A super fun game that can now play less than 4 players in co-op. I can't wait to see more levels and critters.
Definitely needs to be given a chance. It promises much more fun to the fast action player. Check out the roadmap and send feedback.
This game can take its place among the popular party games. Producers will see the benefits of early access. Every player's feedback should be considered, but not every feedback is important. A good balance has to be struck in this game. My personal feedbacks; Killer abilities must be used with direct buttons. The number of car parts should be reduced. Zombie respawn times should be increased. I will be following the development process. I will play every update with my friends, and we will give you our feedback.
The info on this page is a little out of date -- you can play single-player and three player against AI~! What's here is kind of bare bones (few maps, few main killers), but damn it if this isn't an awesome skeleton. This game has so much promise. The mechanics they've locked in are stellar, the execution is brilliant and the gameplay is fun. I'm excited to see what they add, but I love what they've accomplished already. I'd recommend giving this game a try, I'm certainly glad I did!
I could never join a game. I could join a room fine, with other players in it, but the room would always close, or I'd get kicked back to the main screen during the countdown.
