Clunky menus and gets boring pretty quick, plus very annoying sound effects. The upgrade / power up system is interesting but not enough to make playing really worth the time.
Feels like im relying on the RNG Factor of the game to give me good platform placements to achieve a good run... Which honestly takes all the fun away from the game as it becomes a gamble rather then a test of skill and good decision making. This isn't a game, Its a Leaderboard slot machine.
Sure Footing is an auto-runner game to get high scores and unlockables. Sure Footing says that you must save Computra from Ramrafstar and Deletion Dave. These bad guys will chase you through the levels and if you're caught or tripped up by them, you're done for. In Survival Mode, you'll just run as far as you can and collect MIPs along the way. These MIPs will help you purchase characters, costumes, skills, and power-ups. In each of the sectors of Computra, most of them act the same way as they are randomly generated, but some have unique characteristics for each of the areas like low gravity or fog to obstruct your vision. The game looks very basic as everything is pixel related, so lots of squares and some ramps here and there. The backgrounds of the sectors look nice and correlate to the names of the sectors. The music will change as you progress through different sectors making for a nice change. There are some sound effects with the MIPs, blocks, and the characters. As for Tunnel Turmoil and Ramrafstar's Rampage, they look to be very similar game modes, but with slight differences. I couldn't try the Multiplayer game modes because I don't have a spare controller because they require controllers in order to play Multiplayer. The game as a whole is alright. There's nothing too special that would make this game stand out from the rest. There are some issues with the game. There are blocks you can hit that'll do things depending on what the block is. The green ones that give you MIPs sometimes don't work when you hit them. Also, sometimes your character will be on the ground, but some of the blocks will act like you were hitting it from the top, which will make you jump. When you get the Deletion Buffer skill and you have the Transform Translator power-up in a run, sometimes you'll teleport instead of bounce away from the skill being "used" and then Deletion Dave won't harm you for the rest of the game while the game is turned on for whatever reason. The most infuriating thing about this game is that I've unlocked everything and the achievement that you get when unlocking everything won't give me the achievement. Overall, mediocre game with some bugs and something I wouldn't recommend.
Saw this game at a local Gaming festival (Norwich) and on the basis of a few minutes playtime and the fact it was only £7.99 bought it. Love playing this game mainly coop with my daughter (8) as it's fairly simple controls and it looks simple, but it does test us! We really like the online leader boards as it makes us want to keep going up the listings. When her friends come round they like playing as well. We have clocked up 14 hours so far, so at present we have had loads of fun for 50p an hour which isn't bad. In coop it would sometimes be nice to be able to pick your own power ups but the ones selected are OK. Sometimes the bottom half of the screen goes grayish so you cannot see the platforms and not sure if that is meant to do that or its a bug. Some platforms you can't hit the edge and jump up, which is good as makes it a little harder. Verses is good fun as well, being the last to die. And Dave, watch out for Dave! We have 2 controllers but if using those we cannot have a 3rd player using a keyboard which would be good sometimes to have. Overall I would highly recommend this game, as you don't need to input loads of time to learn, you can just dive in, have some fun and come out again. It's also a good game if you want your younger child to get used to the controller buttons as not many to master and no need to worry with movement.
Sure Footing is a nice variation on the infinite runner theme. It has lots of upgrades, characters and other stuff to unlock so you have something to do other than just extend your run. And with the procedurally generated levels you don't get bored running the same bit over and over. As such, if you're an achievement hunter there's a lot of value here. It's not without its problems though. The menus are very annoying to naviage by keyboard and there's no mouse support at all. I'm not usually one to mention frame rate in games, but there are massive hitches from time to time. They don't make the game unplayable, but they do detract. Lastly, if you are one of the few people who discovers you can change the difficultly level through the options menu, you'll find that at higher difficulties the level generation becomes not just more difficult, but ludicrously unfair/impossible (e.g. multiple red crates in a row; unforseable dead-ends, etc.) Overall though, worth playing if you can overlook these faults.
