From the game description it’s implied that the game is heavily focused on historical accuracy, and i’m all about it. The game is divided into 3 stages, and to be honest, i haven’t finished the first one. The stage starts with automated intro text that moved on too quick to register, so i have no idea on how the story goes. this is bad, considering this game puts on heavy emphasis on historical accuracy. aaand... the game suddenly puts me into the battlefield, not knowing what to do. At its core, the gameplay is kinda like RISK, except it’s real time, i guess? so the idea is you are commanding a group of armies & militia, moving them from territory to territory (each flag represent a territory), conquering your opponent’s. It sounds simple and it could be interesting, but the interface made the game looks more complicated and vague than it needs to be. And while in RISK you can get the idea of each territory strength at a glance, Surabaya Inferno requires you to hover your mouse over a territory to see that said territory strength. This is annoying because the movement commands also tied to that mechanism. Chances are you’re gonna hover to another territory instead, before your mouse reached the movement commands. Unit movement mechanics is also confusing, and I don’t know why the text and everything else seems squashed. Is there a problem with the aspect ratio or something? For the visual, there’s definitely plenty of room for improvement. Oh, and the game always crashed whenever you press that ‘saving’ button. On the positive side, I can see the dev put a lot of love & effort to this game. also the music is good enough, it definitely sets the mood. I want to love this game and I can see this game has a lot of potential, but unfortunately, unconventional game mechanic left unexplained (or poorly explained) & confusing interface makes the game barely playable. At its current state, i don’t reccomend this game. Wait until the game reached to a more polished state.
This Game is quite good especially after the recent update but there should be an option to auto battle and not go into the rts street battle because its quite repetitive and there should be better ease of life features but the rest of the game is quite good
This game is amazing and I won't regret purchase on full price. The game is trying to be historically authentic and battle mechanic support this. Also music used in battle is feel sync as more and more soldiers of both sides falling down. Suggestions for improvement: 1.automate reinforcement troop of an unit type to battle so player don't spam send button. 2. Esc button to close tab rather than hovering mouse every time player want to pause. (Presently player can use Esc to unpause but not to pause) 3. Make units in a friendly base visible by hovering mouse to base. 4. Separating wounded unit and full health unit. This make ease the former to be moved to safe zone for R&R and latter to be deployed. 5. Add ability to pause during battle, especially single engagement can lasts more than 30 minutes
The interface is worse than a government website Please remove irrelevant tabs from each location. If a location has neither store nor jobs, dont even have those tab. That would reduce the amount of clicks I need when I scour the entire city looking for who sells guns, because there are no small icons indicating what each location does when youre looking at the whole map. Combat movement is not explained at all. Well, combat isnt explained at all. Are there any point to supplying our troops with weapons? They still show up with rifles despite having zero in stock. Does range and cover matters during combat? One last nitpick, please use proper capital letters and proofreading. At least for your native language. And get the name of your game right in your update notes. I will be refunding this Suraaya Inferno game, thanks.
Good Game for those who loves strategy and history lesson!
