A pure arcade racing game in which the type of vehicle and the breaks are irrelevant. If not for the broken gameplay and tracks, it could have been enjoyable. There are 5 seasons total, each with 10 races. The only difficulty here is easy, so you can begin with any season you like. In the first part of the first lap, you can take the lead and then simply cruise to the finish line. You will get bored because there are three minimum laps that go on for more than a minute per lap. You will become frustrated if you are rammed by other racers. At the smallest touch, contact sends you flying, ideally into a spot where you must wait for the car to respawn. There is no button for manual respawning. Controls are fine. There isn't much that can go wrong because all you need is the throttle and steering. Since you never know how things on the side of the road will act, being in the middle of the road is the best strategy for success. Someone would think you can drive straight past a tree, but you would be wrong because there are invisible walls everywhere. The theme, such as winter or a volcano setting, is the only difference between the seasons. The core layout and environment are kept, therefore ten races per season is overwhelming. Only a few turns and jumps are different in the next race, and the placement of obstacles is altered. Sometimes it throws in a segment from a different area to surprise you, but you soon run into jumps you've seen for the previous five races. Progression is bad. Except for the first race of each season, all races are locked. Races must be completed in one session due to the fact that they remain locked even after being beaten. You cannot end a season and continue later. Races that don't correctly track your position or laps is where everything breaks down. When you're driving in first place and suddenly see your position plummet down, the game loses its last bit of enjoyment. I cautiously followed a car to see whether I had missed the road. I didn't, thus the lap was still unsuccessful. The pathfinding, however, doesn't match the track layout as I did see other cars purposely slam into a wall. Even worse, the game wants you to complete all three laps, so you can't just quit the race and take the last position. Since laps aren’t counted, the season can’t be continued and all your progress is lost. There is a good variety of vehicles. It's entertaining to watch a delivery truck outperform a sports car because once the throttle is pressed, they all accelerate to the same speed. However, other racers lack intelligence. One of them constantly finishes last, another hits everything, another drives erratically, etc. It appears that some of them have their behavior preprogrammed. A lower price and working tracks would turn this into a classic budget game that you can easily recommend despite other issues. I don't mind generic games with basic gameplay, I even had every intention to finish a season, but when a crucial element such as lap progression doesn't work, you need to draw a line and call it what it is.
I almost regret the $3 i spent on this game except it keeps my 4 y.o. busy for about 5 minutes occasionally. The graphics are glitchy, the collision physics are awful, they races take too long to keep kid's attention, and there is no exit menu.
