A fun and humorous action game based around basketball trick shots. Surprisingly decent considering the price tag.

🤔Overall Impressions🤔

Super Hoopers was a great distraction for a couple of hours and will certainly provide some entertainment for an evening, if you like casual action games. I thought the game would be more puzzle based, working out angles, or performing certain shots in clever ways, but to be honest there’s a lot of luck involved, and it resulted in some amusing fun, with balls bouncing about unpredictably, providing some unusual moments with humorous outcomes. Environments are fun to look at and the music is uplifting, giving the whole experience a fun outlook. The only minor gripe I had was that the control system felt a little awkward to use, so I would have liked an option to invert the controls, but apart from that it’s really good value for money.

🕹️Gameplay🕹️
The goal of the game is to shoot the basketball into the hoop by whatever means possible, and if you can collect the special item as well, even better, although it doesn’t hinder progression on to the next level, it just gives you an achievement if you collect them all. There are three characters to play, each with a different environment, and twenty-five levels each (75 in total) to beat. There is a level selector which you can access at any time, making the thirty-one achievements as convenient to tackle as possible. The game took me around two and a half hours to complete to one hundred percent.
🧩 puzzles? 🧩
Obstacles prevent an easy shot into the hoop. Sometimes, it can be characters or animals in your way, or just objects like buildings and trees that block your path. Characters often bounce up and down on trampolines meaning timing your shot is crucial, as well as calculating the right angle and the power to avoid these obstructions. The trampolines tend to provide the most comic moments, as characters and objects go flying around the screen in a random fashion, either helping or hindering your cause. They can send your ball flying in all directions, and then you just have to kiss lady luck on the cheek and hope for the best. This does provide some satisfyingly lucky shots, as the ball bounces off a number of different things only to nestle into the net in a particularly fluky way. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2935249388 I quite liked the unpredictability of it all, which brought a sense of chaos to proceedings and a welcome injection of humour. I thought the game was going to be more puzzle based with a definitive solution to each level, but there is a lot of luck involved, and although there are obvious designated routes which you probably should take, most of the time your shot will end up in the hoop through no fault of your own. I didn’t have too much difficulty in completing all the levels, because of the luck factor, but there are still some tricky encounters, and they’re all fun to play. Very rarely you will find rules which you must follow, or else even a successful shot will not count. These usually involve throwing the ball through a ring before getting it into the hoop. This tends to determine the trajectory of your shot, and of course, there are things in your way like flying wasps or trampolining people to take into account whilst shooting. There are also some teleports, which I think are meant to be secret, as they are often hidden, and will provide a short cut to the basket, so I think they are meant as a reward if you can find them. They are quite scarce though, and I wasn’t convinced their inclusion into the game really worked.
🐁 Controls 🐁
Aiming is inverted, so left on the mouse is right, and upwards is down, and this takes a while to get used to. I would have preferred an option to reverse this and just have normal mechanics, but after a while you get used to it. Occasionally, the aiming system has a complete meltdown and aiming seems to stop working properly, but a reset of the level seems to sort this out. The level can be reset whenever you like. There is a timer, but it never adds any pressure to your shot, it just acts as a self-destruction mechanism for your ball when the time elapses, because with all the trampolines and anomalies your ball can bounce about a lot, and would probably not stop without this mechanic. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2935249471
📺 Graphics and Sound 🎵
Environments are very interesting with either a city, forest, or beach theme, and obstacles and characters tend to mimic situations you would find in these settings. The graphics are colourful, if not a little basic, but I think the aesthetic fitted in well with the comical nature of the game. Each level has a different scene, often with amusing outcomes playing out in the background. The music is very upbeat and has a dance feel to it for maximum energy. It is enjoyable to listen to. The sound of the ball hitting the hoop, backboard, and various objects sounds realistic.
🍳Conclusion🍳

Super Hoopers is fun, engaging, and quite silly in places, which made it a casual and fun experience. If you’re looking for something to dip in and out of, or something short to play in an evening, then this offers excellent value for money. The game is nothing special, usually these games are Golf-Themed but for whatever reason I can enjoy them. If you have a Dollar or so left over, I would certainly say its worth the money. The only real issue I encountered a couple of time was the fact that even hitting the Basket it would not count for completing the level but otherwise the game did run fine, no other bugs/issues encountered. Music is also ok. Controls are easy, you aim with your mouse and throw/shoot with left click.
Ball is life.
For a simple concept this is really a lot of fun. It doesn't take much to learn the controls and the gameplay is easy to moderately challenging depending on your hand-eye coordination. I completed the game and finished all achievements in under two hours but I suspect I'll be coming back for more because it's so enjoyable to play. For a dollar or less this really can't be beat.
Surprisingly fun once you get the hang of the weird aiming system.
Good Game
EDIT: Developer quickly fixed the issue i mentioned Game works perfect Enjoy this masterpiece Its totally worth the money unplayable 8 times out of 10 crosshair gets stuck underground/under textures moving mouse up gives no result inverted aiming also gives nothing
Simple and relaxing
got all achievements, super hooper god
No lo habría jugado de no ganarlo gratis, aunque me sorprendió para bien. Un buen juego para cazar los logros, aunque no tiene cromos. Es divertido.
