If there were no clouds we should not enjoy the sun.

It honestly saddens me that this game has been on the Steam store front for about 12 full hours and still has yet to have a single review posted. ..I am writing this games first review with THIS very review here. I hear your thoughts.. 12 hours isn't that long.. but my point is that if this game were the 5,000th Unity asset flip horror game or the 8,457th Unreal Asset flip Zombie Survival game, it would likely already at least a dozen reviews posted. - And I bring up this point because..... THIS GAME IS FLIPPING AMAZING! I found this game here on Steam this morning, purchased it, and thought it looked fun, but I had no idea it would be this addicting, this full of chaotic action, or this much damn fun! I just gave this game my "First Play on Launch Day 1st Impressions Review" and this little gem turned into one of my rare "Indie Gold" games of the year! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NRNL0LwsIE&feature=youtu.be My 99% Score for this game is my highest score I've given to any indie game in all of 2018, and since it is the very end of the year, I guess sometimes these indie developers truly "save the best for last"! Highly recommended, and this game deserves AWARDS for not only gameplay but also ORIGINALITY, CREATIVITY, and SIMPLICITY. It truly is so simple that it's brilliant! ..Just Buy it and thank me later! Oh, yeah, be sure you don't do what I did and "assume that you use the WASD or Arrow keys or even a controller (which all work) but just use your MOUSE! Your mouse is by far the best and easiest way to play this game and I demonstrate that in the video linked above! ..Have fun! =)
Fun time sink, takes like 20 min or less to complete.
Dodge'em-up where you grow when catching power ups.
Note that there's a free version available on browser. Another nice and short Nannings game. Super Grower is best played with mouse (but can be played with gamepad). In each level your task is to eliminate enemies by grabbing power-ups that grow you (a square block) making it harder to dodge the enemies but making them vulnerable to you. Most levels are rather easy. I was stuck in one or two for a few minutes. Having completed the game, you can tackle the Endless mode to compete for high scores on Steam leaderboards. Endless mode essentially replays some of the more difficult levels until you fail. There was about 20 minutes of gameplay in the 40 levels.
The Steam and free versions only little differences
The free version felt a little easier for me, since playing in a window allows cheating by teleporting the square from an edge to another when playing with a mouse. Otherwise, there was no notable difference in performance between the versions. The Steam version adds technically unlimited amount of gameplay in the Endless mode and its Steam leaderboards. For me the latter's novelty lasted just for 5 minutes more. If you want the Steam version anyway, get it on sale - I think the content is not quite enough for the full price. Since each of these seven games produced by NanningsGames are mini games, I am going to review them all together.
Super Space Jump Man
Decent little platformer/runner where you are an astronaut leaping from planet to planet to the end of the level (of which I believe there are 24). They begin to increase in difficulty with various obstacles being added along the way. It actually looks nice in that pleasing, 1970's Atari/Intellivision type way, with a catchy little soundtrack that despite looping repeatedly, doesn't really overstay its welcome. Decent game for what it is.
Super Orb Collector
Same basic graphics and sound. In this one though, you control a large orb trying to consume all the smaller orbs on each level without touching anything else. If you touch something else, you explode and respawn with collected orbs remaining collected.
Super Grower
In this one, you are a square trying to consume everything on the screen. However, in order to do so, you have to consume them in a certain sequence (which varies from level to level). The things you consume don't sit idly by for the msot part though, and enemies are color coded, which determines the type of attacks they use against you. This one is essentially bullet hell-lite.
Hookshot
In this game, you basically hookshot your way around levels, again avoiding obstacles, on your way to the end of each level. That's about it.
Cube Mission
In this one, you roll a cube around trying to solve each levels puzzle. As with the previous games, each new level might add a new mechanic. In this one, there are flamethrowers, spiked cubes, etc...all standing in between you and the end of each level.
Tricky Cat
This one is a simple platformer with the twist that each platform can only be landed on once per level and disappears afterwards. The key is to clear all platforms and then still be able to make your final jump to the star at the end of each level. The puzzles will change a bit with teleport tiles, spike tiles, and so on. I found this to actually be the easiest of these seven games.
Enchanted Path
This is a disappearing tile game where you have to find the correct path to the end w/o trapping yourself. Some of the levels up the ante with a second avatar that moves exactly like the first, thus making traversing the paths even more difficult. Other wrinkles are added as you progress as well. The graphics in this one were an upgrade from all of NanningsGames other games they produce.
Verdict
I found no issues with any of the games. Each is k/m and gamepad compatible. Some favor one over the other, but both are usable throughout. All of these are pick up and play mini games. Play for a few minutes or achievement hunt your way to glory in an under an hour each. For a buck or so a piece, I think you will get proper value from each.
If you found this review helpful and would be interested in supporting my Curator group, it would be appreciated.
Strangely Addictive... The game mechanics are simple and very easy to pick up. I had a blast eating cubes, circles and triangles and it's very satisfying once you beat a hard level. Definitely worth the price and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase it. But I do have some minor complaints... 1. The projectiles that follow the player are the worst thing about the game, they are the hardest thing to dodge and maneuver. I would have liked them to be introduced much later towards the end of the game. 2. Level progression doesn't always make sense... Some levels are much much harder than the level before it. 3. Collecting yellow cubes relies on RNG, it can often ruin a good run if you get an unlucky yellow cube spawn. 4. Would have liked respawn time to be more instant. 7/10 I recommend it.
A wonderful little game that shows that for a great game all you need is a compelling gameplay mechanic and a great soundtrack. The 40 main levels provide a good amount of challenge for the ridiculously low price point. I'm looking forward to trying to beat the game as quickly as possible. My only main suggestions would be small additions to add some replayability to the game such as a timer for speedruns or maybe a challenge mode where things shoot twice as often or something. Overall, definitely would recommend for the price. It is a joy to play and listen to.
Super Grower is a simple minimalist Unity based "action" game where you move a square around and must grow it into a larger square. I'd say this was an asset flip but I don't think even Unity Assets are available so barebones and minimalist. This is pretty lazy stuff. Regardless, no proper PC graphics, just 2D minimalist squares, this barely counts as a game, I don't recommend it.
good game!
