I wasn't sure quite what to expect with this game, so I came into it with an open mind ready to play a casual game. Right away, I felt lost. There's nothing to indicate from the on-game screen or GUI exactly what the objective of the game is or how to play it. A basic Google search for, "How to play Super Bomb Rush" led me to a post in the Steam discussion forum asking exactly the same questions that I had. "What do I do?" "How do I play" What's the objective?" I saw a response from the developer to, "adhere to the help menu," and of course, that was not at all helpful. Still at a loss, I went back to the game and looked at all the menus that were available to me. I came across the instructions stating to, "attack the directional arrows," but that just confused me even further. How can I attack the arrows on the left side of the screen when the bomb vibrates but doesn't move? Is it a racing game? A combat game? Tower defense? What the heck is this crazy little game? I then came across a post from another player explaining that we were to, "copy the arrows." From there, I figured out exactly what this game is. It's like Simon, a game where you need very quick reactions to mimic button presses that are being randomly prompted by the game. Mimic the directional arrows with your joystick quickly enough, and the bomb is "diffused." This process then becomes more difficult with more complex combinations of arrows. Having gotten at least that much out of the way, I went back to the game prepared to diffuse some bombs. It was at this point that my confusion turned into frustration and flat-out being underwhelmed by the entire experience. There were countless times that I knew I was completing the arrow combination correctly and quickly enough using the joystick on my XBox360 controller, and yet, the stupid little bomb blew up anyway. There just didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the game itself and no consistency to the controls. Graphically, it was mediocre. The colors were bright and even distracting, but didn't appear to require much thought. However, when you're staring at the left side of the screen at the arrows, I guess it really doesn't much matter what's happening on the rest of the screen. Audibly, there's also much to be desired. The sound effects give the impression of a classic standup arcade game from the 80s, and if you were gaming at that time like I was, then this bit of nostalgia might be appealing, but overall, there's just not much to it. The user interface, sound design, and graphics all left a lot to be desired, and the lack of direction is noticeable to more players than just myself. If that weren't enough of a deterrent, the gameplay itself was inconsistent and underwhelming. I simply cannot recommend the game, but I do applaud the concept. It's got potential, but there's work to be done here.

Found a 0 byte update for this game today and an anoucement that the game has fully released. Opened the game and found a host of issues. -Lack of non 1920x1080 resolution support. -Could not find the menu button on keyboard so had to use controller to access main menu. -Any d-pad input in game would instakill player. Must use arrow keys or bind controller buttons to arrowkeys. -Can't exit from versus-mode without closing the game. -No option to adjust sound, must use windows sound mixer to do so. -Main menue navigation has no support for mouse. I thought this would be a good game to play while I'm bored, but in its current state, it is simply unplayable.
So glad I did not purposefully waste my money on this trash game. Got it through Humble Bundle Monthly a while back, but have never been able to play it seeing as it is only made for 1920 x 1080 resolution. So glad you have time to make an Xbox One version but not fix the PC version so people can actually play the damn thing. I didn't even pay for this game and I'm still pissed that I have it. Maybe if I could actually play it, I could give it a real review. I can only dream though.
Graphically, this game is simple but it has a nice design, audio is of a high quality and the gameplay is challenging and fun but straightforward in its delivery. I am interested to see what the other modes will bring to this title in the future. I think the price is currently a bit steep for the amount of content you currently receive. But this game has a lot of promise and future content in the pipeline. More details in the video below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kctGh9gkncQ
A Crazy Time-Attack Sequence Arcade Game
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6XE0pE-JY0&feature=youtu.be + Fun + The Announcer is fantastic, very encouraging + Very "Arcade-like" meaning I could see this being popular at an actual arcade + Frantic fast-paced gameplay + A great up-beat electronic soundtrack (many songs) + Challenging, but you feel like you improve a little each time + CoD memes, from airhorns to the announcer saying MLG, prestige, and No Scope! (definitely made me smile) (This game just released in EARLY ACCESS, so don't take these negatives too seriously) - Not enough backgrounds, I wish it would change every so often. (currently it's just a rainbow - Only 1 life, I feel like it should be 3 or perhaps the ability to buy lives (i didn't get very far) - Hopefully there will be more things to spend coins on later in development ~Bug: Xbox One controllers seem to continously hold-left making the game unplayable. Hopefully this gets patched at some point. (keyboard works perfectly fine though with this game.
When you open the game it says "Click menu button" but there is no menu button thus you can not get past the menu screen...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAHNwecSn_w Super Bomb Rush! is a very simple game, basically we have to press the indicated buttons, otherwise the bomb explodes! Excellent soundtrack, shame that to date the modality are still few, I also found problems with two gamepads. The game manages to entertain, and developers in the coming updates will introduce new modes and new challenges! I recommend it, but not at the introductory price.
(Below is the Italian full review)
Super Bomb Rush!
Voto:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=549022420
be careful uploading to YouTube! Game is good, except the part where i got flagged with copyright strike for uploading gameplay to youtube.., im in a program called KeyMailer, they give me games to test, upload to youtube, and sort of demo them to the general public. How sweet it is to get flagged by copyright for doing THIS VERY THING. awesome. last footage i upload, thats for sure. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZH9-ZI5kIrU ANything there i wasn't supposed to air, let me know. seems a bit off to be flagged by something as this, is the music not allowed to be used? the creators should be sensitive to this, as youtube is a HUGE market ground for advertisement
[Currently only supports 1920x1080 resolution] Wtf is that ? Is this 2001 game ?
3/16/2017 Game doesn't seem to want to work at all. I've verified, reinstalled, ect. and the arrows still never popped up. It seems to be quite broken since you literally can't play it. If it gets fixed ill change review based on how it plays.
