A crazy platformer about a hungry demon girl who wants to eat lots of meat!

Super Beast Hunt is a colorful, funny platformer with funny girls trying to solve a meat shortage crisis on their island. The writing is super humorous, and doesn't take itself seriously. Gameplay-wise, I'd say it is leaning towards precision platformer, especially in the later levels. You will die a lot, but that's ok! You have infinite lives and checkpoints are generally well spaced out. There is even an assist mode if you need additional help, which is nice! WOAH_MANN's art and games have always been a delight, and with this game being free, why not try it?

Merry is my favorite :D
Searching for the term "platformer" on Steam gives you over 17,000 results... there's thousands and thousands of garbage tier platformers infesting Steam. "Super Beast Hunt" fits right into that category of retro 2D shovelware glutting the Steam store. Only a tiny number of those are any good, and this isn't one of them. This is a pointless and badly made precision platformer featuring three pixelcrap anime girls, really awful graphics, and punishing difficulty... and given the game already looks hideous and unappealing, developers should probably not be putting even more effort into making gamers not want to play their game. Gameplay is bog standard and badly done spike avoidance... pretty much just a Super Mario Bros ripoff but with even worse graphics somehow. Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surprise this failed to capture any attention from gamers in the era of immersive 3D gaming. The amateur pixelcrap visual presentation here at best could have been an attempt to use "retro" as a crutch, a weak excuse to avoid admitting the developer wasn't capable of doing the job of a game developer this decade and creating cutting edge, high quality 3D visuals. While a lack of skill or funding is the explanation for this failure, it's no excuse. The end result of this incompetence is a game that looks dramatically inferior to professionally developed games. Terraria and Undertale succeeded despite looking crap, not because they look crap. This was made with the godawful "GameMaker Studio" construction kit/toolset, which is popular amongst amateur developers because it handholds you through making really crap 2D games that you can publish for $100 on Steam Direct. This lets you pat yourself on the back for pretending to be a real game developer, which explains why GameMaker Studio is responsible for so much ignored garbage on Steam. GameMaker Studio has never really been used to make a truly successful game, but that doesn't stop people from trying and failing. It's a particularly bad game engine that can only be used for making low quality 2D products. Like this. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, as the old saying goes. Another reason this particular game wasn't successful. Now onto pricing and value. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. A peak of 6 concurrent players (according to SteamDB) for a "free" game is a disastrous public reception. Out of 130 million potential players here on Steam, almost nobody was interested. Even though this is "free". That level of rejection speaks a lot for the quality of the game. Given that this free game won't increase your game collector count, is it worth your time to add it to your library? Give this one a miss. Although it's free, your time and storage are valuable resources, and the market is filled with superior options.
