About
Eons ago, SUPER 56 was banned by the Government of Pain and all copies were buried in the Samsara Desert. Cartridges have now been spotted in independent gaming stores throughout Hell. Roommates Kronos and Brones secured their own copy of the game and challenged their neighbor to a high-scoring bet. But, it turns out they're pretty bad at video games. It’s up to you to achieve an S Rank and shut the pesky neighbor up once and for all.

SUPER 56 is a wonderfully unconventional collection of microgames that demonstrates how creativity can flourish even under the strictest gameplay limitations. Instead of relying on elaborate control schemes, the entire experience revolves around a single button, challenging players to complete an ever-changing lineup of frantic mini-games through timing, quick thinking, and adaptability. This deceptively simple concept quickly becomes the game's greatest strength, as every new challenge introduces a fresh twist that keeps the experience unpredictable. The bizarre premise, which follows two eccentric roommates attempting to conquer a mysterious game from Hell to earn an S Rank and stop their noisy neighbor, immediately establishes the title's playful and absurd sense of humor, giving the adventure an entertaining personality from beginning to end. The game's biggest attraction is its collection of 56 unique microgames, each offering its own mechanics, visual style, and objective despite sharing the same one-button control philosophy. Players may find themselves avoiding hazards, solving puzzles, racing through dangerous environments, surviving action-packed encounters, or tackling rhythm-based sequences in rapid succession. Since every stage lasts only a short time, the gameplay constantly evolves without becoming repetitive. Learning each challenge's timing and behavior becomes part of the fun, encouraging repeated attempts to improve performance and achieve higher rankings. The addition of unlockable Mod Stones further enhances replayability by introducing gameplay modifiers that alter familiar stages, encouraging experimentation and making even completed challenges feel different on subsequent runs. Beyond the main campaign, SUPER 56 includes an impressive variety of modes that greatly extend its longevity. Daily Challenges provide fresh objectives that reward players for returning regularly, while Trial Mode expands selected microgames into more demanding experiences designed for players seeking mastery. Leaderboards create an additional layer of competition by encouraging faster completion times and higher scores. Career Mode allows players to revisit completed games, unlock new characters, voice packs, achievements, and various collectibles, creating a rewarding progression system that steadily expands the game's content. Rather than feeling like a short novelty, the package offers enough objectives and unlockables to remain engaging well beyond the initial playthrough. Multiplayer adds another dimension to the experience by supporting local matches for two to eight players, creating an ideal setting for parties and gatherings. The turn-based format keeps everyone involved, while customizable rules and game modifiers allow sessions to be tailored to different skill levels and preferences. One of the game's most inventive features is its optional microphone mode, which replaces button presses with sounds, encouraging players to clap, shout, sing, or make ridiculous noises to control the action. This unusual mechanic transforms already chaotic gameplay into hilarious social entertainment, producing countless memorable moments that are difficult to replicate in more traditional party games. The presentation complements the gameplay perfectly through vibrant visuals, exaggerated animations, and an energetic soundtrack that adapts to the wide variety of genres represented across the microgames. Every challenge possesses its own identity, ensuring that the constant transitions never become visually monotonous. Numerous references to classic gaming culture, combined with the game's offbeat humor and intentionally ridiculous storytelling, give SUPER 56 a distinct charm that separates it from many other microgame collections. While a few mini-games may resonate more strongly than others, and the fast pace can occasionally overwhelm newcomers, these minor shortcomings are overshadowed by the sheer imagination and polish found throughout the package. SUPER 56 succeeds because it fully commits to its unconventional premise without ever running out of fresh ideas. Its minimalist control scheme becomes the foundation for an astonishing variety of gameplay styles, proving that originality matters far more than mechanical complexity. Whether played solo while chasing leaderboard rankings and unlockables or enjoyed with friends during chaotic multiplayer sessions, the game consistently delivers fast-paced entertainment packed with humor and creativity. Onion Soup Interactive has crafted a remarkably inventive experience, while WhisperGames has published a title that showcases how a simple concept can evolve into one of the most memorable and replayable microgame collections available. Funny and creative 1-button minigames. Can be played with up to 8 players but you take turns.
short burst of fun driven by hilarious awkwardness and curiosity, worth to play each level once when game discount is good enough for you
Much better than another one souls-like slop
This game is incredible! It scratches the same itch as the Wario Ware games for me. You do need to focus on this game to play it, and though there is only a single button there is a shocking amount of depth and difficulty. Very funny, often surprising. A worthwhile experience that rewards good timing and exploring various outcomes.
I've seen better, I've seen worse. I never played Warioware or w/e before, but from what I have seen it's not quite as sluggish or loose as this is. Also it tended to have a finisher mini-game after each set and whatever the plot is to it, it's likely better than this. I'd say that this is a nice first try at it, but it needs more and overall better. The worst part of it is when a minigame feels like some luck is required. Higher or lower for example is a stupid mini-game to have. The worst one though is the 'bar' machine or w/e. There's a reason that sort of mini-game is attached to a 'bonus' in games like Mario 3. It's because it's not meant to matter if you win or lose. But here it could be your last life. Some of the minigames feel like they are barely functioning at times which would be a negative if it got in the way of the game itself, but usually it's just things like weird physics objects. I don't like that some of the games seem to want to pretend like score is important. So long as there are cheaters, score is never going to be important ever again. Sorry. The game really would've benefited from more music too. It's clear and obvious they needed more. I think I would say the weakest element though is the string that ties it all together. Whatever is going on in the story is just dumb. Amazingly I didn't skip any of it because I was hoping it would 'go somewhere'. It even has a segment that fakes you out like you're going to have to earn enough coins to bail this dude out then is like psyche, and you don't have to. As well the villain of the story isn't really necessary I guess? It's just... meh. It doesn't feel connected and no sorta 'main game' to string it together hurts the overall experience. I played Portaboy and that's free and I'd say I like Portaboy more in spite of it having less variety because the loop is a little more enjoyable. Not so much that it's horror (though that helps) but more that there is a main game going on while you're playing the mini-games. And lastly of the negatives this game really woke me up to why one button games aren't enjoyable. The games where you 'turn'. Like christ, even the atari had a joystick and one button. There is so much extra complexity than can come from more buttons. Not that getting creative with 'just one button' isn't a good idea to expand your mind I'm sure, but some of these mini-games suck as one button games and they almost always involve turning or mini-games that would benefit from more than one button. If the objective was to turn me off to the notion of ever making a series of one button mini-games, this game succeeded. With all of that out of the way, I do still think overall it's fun. Most of the games are enjoyable for the price. I am a bit iffy on that 7 bucks for this, but ehn, I am going to err on the side of recommending. It i suitably fun as a nice distraction game when I should really be doing something else. And I wouldn't call the graphics bad or anything. It's more like it's just 'acceptable' more than anything. Not good or bad, but the price being low makes it enough to say that if you wanna play it and you been itching to and it's cheap for you, then why not? Don't expect the next hot thing though and definitely prep yourself for some annoyance.
