《Sun City》
Tis is such a crappy AVN!!! Spelling and grammar mistakes everywhere. The keep saying he instead of she, him instead of her, his instead of hers. And so many misspelled words. Drives me crazy. On top of that, the women are ugly. Most like like drag queens. Horse-face ugly! And skin tones aren't constant, nor real looking. And, they look like cheap plastic sex dolls going at it. And what's with the MC?! He looks like a sunburned vampire! Orange and blotchy. And the close ups of his face you can definitely see something is wrong. There was one section, where he's driving to the train station with Daisy, that showed him close up. AND he looked like he just ate a pile of sh__t! Edges of his mouth caked with ugly brown lumps. Looked so disgusting! So, NO! I will not recommend this! And I'm asking for a refund! I'll never play this ugly thing ever again!
Sun City – Episode 1 is a narrative-driven adult visual novel that positions itself as the opening chapter of a longer, episodic story focused on personal loss, rebuilding, and intimate relationships. Developed and published by FF Digital, the game clearly aims to establish tone and characters rather than deliver a fully self-contained experience. From the beginning, it frames itself as a mature, choice-based story where emotional recovery and human connection are as central as the explicit content it advertises, making it more of a slow-burn introduction than a rapid-fire fantasy. The story follows a protagonist who has recently suffered the loss of his family and relocates to Sun City in an attempt to start over. This setup gives the narrative a grounded emotional hook, one that differentiates it slightly from more purely escapist adult visual novels. Early scenes focus on adjustment, isolation, and tentative social interactions, gradually introducing a cast of characters who may become friends, confidants, or romantic interests. Rather than rushing into constant erotic scenes, the game spends time establishing context, personalities, and emotional stakes, which helps the relationships feel at least partially earned within the scope of this first episode. Gameplay adheres closely to standard visual novel conventions. Progression is driven almost entirely by reading dialogue and making choices at key moments, with those decisions influencing relationship values and determining which scenes or character paths become available. There are no complex management systems, puzzles, or exploration mechanics, which keeps the experience accessible but also mechanically simple. Player agency is expressed through conversational tone and decision-making rather than gameplay skill, reinforcing the idea that the story and character dynamics are the main draw. Character writing is one of the more important elements of Sun City – Episode 1. Each major character is given a distinct personality and role in the protagonist’s new life, and early interactions are designed to hint at deeper arcs that will presumably unfold in later episodes. Some dialogue feels natural and emotionally grounded, particularly when dealing with themes of grief and adjustment, while other moments lean more heavily into familiar adult visual novel tropes. This mix can feel uneven at times, but it also reflects the game’s attempt to balance sincerity with fan-service appeal. Visually, the game uses stylized character art and detailed backgrounds typical of adult visual novels. Character expressions are clear and expressive enough to convey mood shifts, which is important in a dialogue-heavy experience. The environments help establish a modern, lived-in city setting without drawing too much attention to themselves, functioning primarily as narrative backdrops. Explicit scenes are presented with the same art style, maintaining visual consistency rather than feeling tacked on or disconnected from the rest of the story. Audio design plays a subtle supporting role. Background music is used to reinforce mood, shifting between subdued, reflective tracks during quieter moments and more relaxed or intimate themes during personal interactions. There is little to no voice acting, keeping the experience text-focused and allowing players to control pacing entirely. Sound design is not a standout feature, but it serves its purpose without becoming distracting or repetitive. As an episodic opener, the game’s pacing can feel both deliberate and limiting. Much of Episode 1 is spent laying groundwork, which means some story threads and character arcs feel incomplete by the time the credits roll. For players who enjoy slow narrative build-up, this can be engaging, but those expecting a fully developed storyline or extensive content may feel that the experience ends just as it begins to find its rhythm. This sense of incompleteness is inherent to the episodic structure, but it does place a lot of weight on future installments to deliver meaningful payoffs. Community reception reflects this split. Players who appreciate adult visual novels with emotional context and branching dialogue often respond positively to the character focus and restrained pacing. Others criticize the limited scope, mechanical simplicity, and the fact that much of the narrative feels like setup rather than resolution. These reactions underline how strongly enjoyment depends on expectations—whether the player views Episode 1 as a foundation or as a standalone product. Overall, Sun City – Episode 1 functions best as an introduction rather than a complete experience. It establishes themes of loss, recovery, and connection while offering light choice-driven interaction and adult content tailored to a mature audience. While it does not offer deep gameplay systems or a fully realized narrative arc, it succeeds in setting a tone and hinting at a broader story to come. For fans of adult visual novels who value character development and are willing to invest in an episodic format, it provides a promising, if restrained, starting point that leaves room for growth in future episodes. Rating: 6/10
