Difficult. The story has incredible potential – it's really good. Still, I can't recommend it. The game suffers from the fact that the story is only told in bits and pieces... As is common with some VNs, you have to play through the story several times to unlock new decisions that then continue the story. Unfortunately, this is very poorly done here. You are left completely confused at first, especially because it is not clear what effects each decision has. Sometimes the story changes FUNDAMENTALLY just because you chose (casual) answer B instead of (as well casual) A in a (casual) conversation... Without a guide, It seems impossible to follow the story the right way. And even after playing through, some questions remain... Did I miss something somewhere? I have no idea. Maybe I would had to choose another Answer in any non-story-related dialog? Strong story, very poor execution. This Story would need much more guidence. It would need - I hate myself for saying this - more railroading. You can give it a try because it's short and inexpensive, but if you ask me, there are many better VNs in the same category out there, so it's not really worth it.
Suicide Countdown: 7 Days is a tense and unsettling narrative experience that places the player in the final week of the protagonist’s life. Through the story of Hanchuan, a class monitor caught in a disturbing chain of events involving a missing student and a mysterious online community promoting nihilistic ideals, the game builds an atmosphere that is both psychological and deeply suspenseful. What makes the experience striking is the way ordinary school life slowly fractures. Reality begins to distort, turning daily interactions into something increasingly strange and ominous. The sense of inevitability is constant, yet the story remains driven by player choices, encouraging exploration of different narrative branches and hidden connections between endings. Rather than focusing on a single linear path, the game invites players to reconstruct the full picture piece by piece. Each route reveals fragments of truth, gradually expanding the mystery and the emotional weight behind it. This structure gives strong value to replayability and interpretation. The presentation also enhances immersion, with full voice acting and more natural Live2D animations that bring characters to life in a subtle but effective way. The branching system, supported by a clear flowchart-style progression, makes it easier to navigate choices while still preserving narrative tension. Despite its heavy themes, the game positions itself as a psychological exploration of meaning, choice, and consequence. It does not glorify its darker subject matter, but instead uses it to build a story centered on pressure, influence, and the search for purpose during a critical moment in life. Overall, it stands as a dark but thought-provoking visual novel, designed to leave a lasting impression through its structure, atmosphere, and moral complexity.
Very bland and average. The story is nothing special, and everything is as predictable as it can be except for one of the endings. At least it's short enough to sit through in one evening, but the story path system is way too convoluted. You need to be a rocket scientist to understand this without a guide (which someone thankfully made on Steam, god bless their soul). At least worth the money, there are worse way to spend a euro for sure. The points shop items are also solid.
It’s tempting to believe that all paths lead to the same destination, but in this game it’s surprisingly easy to get “hit with a shovel” into a false ending. Even so, the three true endings are beautiful, elevated by the inclusion of remarkable pieces from composers of the Baroque, Classical, and Impressionist eras. The story feels like it reaches for a deeper meaning than it fully delivers, yet it remains engaging thanks to its strong artistic direction. The one element that didn’t quite work for me was the presence of a human wearing a wolf mask, which felt a bit out of place. Still, the game pays clear tribute to landmark visual novels like Higurashi, with its recurring cicada sounds and the distorted backgrounds also brought Saya no Uta to mind.
...
I liked the story and game as a whole, I will be going back at some point to get the other endings, but for the price of this game I would definitely recommend it for any visual novel loversZ
Lovely VN. I don't play VN's, so when I saw this in my library, I wondered why I had bought it. Ended up enjoying the story. <3
