About
Black Annis is the first game in a collection of short horror / puzzle exploration games that are based upon British folklore and presented in a modern fictional setting.

For the last 250 years, stories tell of a murderous apparition that haunts the Dane Hills area of Leicester, people and animals periodically go missing with no trace. The stories tell of a lone oak tree, which lies at the centre of these events. The pace of modern urban sprawl has meant that this story has fallen into legend, but if rumours are to be believed, then Black Annis still lurks in the darkness.

Working the night shift in a recently renovated college, you will have to solve numerous puzzles in order to move through the locked down campus and discover the history behind Black Annis.
Only by discovering the truth will you be able to escape her clutches, as you desperately search for your missing friend and find a way out.

Based on the local legend of Black Annis. A creature that has haunted the Dane hills area of Leicester for hundreds of years.

Reviews
Spoiler-free Review: (edited to fix typos, and expand on my voice acting compliment) Overall, 7/10: I LOVED playing this game. It was sooooo much fun! There were just a few bugs that lowers the score a bit (see details in the last section of this review), but nothing that prevents me from recommending. It was a good length, decent price ($6 at the time I purchased), funny in the right ways, and featured WONDERFUL voice acting. The jump scares were few and far between, making them much more effective, and the setting was interesting and fun to explore. Not only that, but there were genuine comedic events/writing that really balanced out the scares and added personality to this game that you don't normally see in Indie titles. This is just the first game from these devs, and I can't wait to see what they do next. Shoutout to JOHN KEARVELL for the EXCELLENT VOICE ACTING!!!! Reggie was a highlight of this game. Full Playthrough Here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOja5x6uMiU **So, why am I still recommending this game when there are enough bugs to bring the score down??? Because I LOVED playing the game, and it made it worth it. The bugs weren't completely game-breaking (and one even ADDED to the story LOL). It was a couple hours for $6, and the game made me laugh, scream, and panic without getting frustrated, lost, or annoyed. That's what I'm looking for. Story, 7/10: The story is based on British Folklore, but set in modern times. The only thing that was not well-explained was how the college students have survived this long with a BLACK ANNIS hunting nearby (unless I missed something in the notes/lore, which is possible). That said, it was still cool. It was not a super intricate or compelling story, but it didn't need to be. It's based on a historical legend, and that gave the game enough of a solid premise. Atmosphere, 8/10: The college satellite campus was very believable and it looked really cool. The creative way the devs introduce you to the courtyard in the center was a special treat. So when someone in-game tells you to 'enjoy the view', you will know what I mean. There is a change in the weather that is well-done, and one change in the setting that was both shocking and cool. Mechanics, 9/10: This game had some decent puzzles. It wasn't a gofer game that sends you all over the place looking for keys, keys, and more keys. They had actual puzzles and codes that you could solve using hints found on notes and in books. Even the mundane tasks at the beginning were different than you see in other games. I do wish there was a sprint button for getting around the school, which is somewhat large, but that is my only 'complaint' about the mechanics, lol. Overall, very fun gameplay and exploration. Performance, 10/10: I had no problems playing this game on my PC while recording at the same time. (see specs below). Bugs, 6/10: There were a few actual "bugs" that I experienced, and multiple smaller oversights. None were completely game breaking, but two of them did involve having to restart a section due to being softlocked or experiencing a one-time glitch that led to an unavoidable death. (Added 1 point back to this score due to the devs responding to my Bug Report on the discussion board.)
For someone who has played very few horror games, Black Annis is a horror game that I am really enjoying (with the lights on) The visuals are stunning, the map design is beautiful and the voice acting is very well done. I am really looking forward to playing more, when I work up the courage to do so...
中规中矩,有点意思但不多~ 氛围还是很好的,就是流程太短了~ 学校场景挺好看的,看着很舒服~
I had a great time playing this game! It has a great mix of jumpscares with comedic moments. It seems like the bugs mentioned in the other reviews have been fixed in the patches from the devs - I didn't come across any in my gameplay. For the price point, you really can't go wrong, I really recommend this for a couple hours of fun.
Woop woop
Very spooky 10/10
Enjoyable experience with some funny and tense moments. There is some bugs that need ironed out but the developers have already uploaded patches fixing some of the minor issues I faced while playing. We love Reggie.
Really enjoyed the game. Graphics are great. I didnt save my coworker but I saved myself so I would say the mission was mostly successful.
Amazing horror atmosphere, very shocking chase scenes and quality puzzles, would recommend!
