Strangers in a Strange Land

Flaming. Hot. Garbage. I picked this up because Kotaku was buttmad over another adult content game, and I typically don't mind plunking down a few dollars to developers that irk the jerks. I was expecting something dumb but fun, like House Party. But this thing is unBELIEVABLY terrible. "Why does everyone assume I am steroids" is an actual line--almost the entire game is translated very badly. There's just a tiny amount of voice, it's almost entirely text, and the text is often unreadable as it blends into the background art. It's an adventure game, but the "look" icon almost always returns a default "can't do that here" message. The writing wouldn't make any sense even if it was translated competently. The puzzles are either completely obscure or blisteringly simple. You can end up in a dead end by failing to pick up an item you can't see without scrolling the screen, in a room that you wouldn't think to scroll the screen, in fact literally the only room in the game where you scroll the screen UP. One puzzle involving sound is so bad THE GAME SUGGESTS YOU GO TO THE INTERNET FOR HELP with it. You can miss dialogue if you don't manually focus the screen on the characters talking. Near the end, my interface just started bouncing up and down for no reason. Even with the "uncensor patch," the very last scene was still censored. Yeesh. If the translation was better, and the game-breaking puzzles were fixed or removed, it could be fun-bad. It's a little like the campy 1996 game Harvester. Except this is straight-up mother-son demon incest porn. I didn't expect that. Also, there's NO WAY the main character is supposed to be 18 or over. Also also, the very American characters make anime sex noises. There's some weird humor here too about everyone from the South engaging in incest. No explanation for why they sound Japanese though. This was...this was... ...awful. Just awful. This is Big Rigs bad. Ride to Hell: Retribution bad. It's almost (almost) worth keeping on my HD to show friends how bad bad. This is a low-water-mark for Steam in which the pornographic content is the least worrisome thing about it. I award you no points, and may god have mercy on your soul.

The game controls terribly and runs like ass. You walk at about 5 inches per hour, and to speed up walking you can spam clicking, but only increases your walk speed by like, an inch. The pathing in this game sucks, and when you interact with objects, your character will walk around the whole screen just to move "closer" to the object, which was right next to him the whole time. There's partial voice """acting""", and its absolutely terrible. The lines are corny and dumb, and have spelling errors. This game is half assed garbage, and shouldn't be on steam. This game isn't even so bad its good, it just sucks

we both know why you're here. 1)yes there is a censorship removal patch. check the forums 2)there are 5 sex scenes (4 are with a characters [?step?]mother) if you like the pics in the hub sure grab this. i've seen worse sell for more so its your choice. it has been bundled so it should be able to be found for cheap(er). a warning, the sex scenes pop up unexpectedly though some can be guessed at before they happen and they sometimes lag really hard. they also leave you wishing there was more but if you take into account length of content to scenes its a good pace. the point in click part if very basic and you'll be spending most of your time pixel hunting items or finding triggers to move the story forward. some of the items are hard to see and you get no hints but if you know where items are you could get through this in about an hour. there are a few posts in the forums with full details on what to do if you get stuck or if you don't care about doing it yourself. as for the story it gets the job done connecting events and why things happen. it seems there was some thought (maybe to much) into the story if you think about the 4th sex scene, the plot, and why it didn't happen. is it a good game? no. does sex sell? yes. if you're into these kinds of games its not bad but still on the low scale. there is the mother/son thing and is what may turn off (or excite) most players. though i see step-family in the description i dont remember seeing the mother being called a step-mother and even if so it would go against the story a bit if she was also seeing "mom" said during sex scenes even a step-mother is still a turn off for most.

Erotic Horror Point & Click game. There are a few nice things in this game and many annoying things. [h1]The Good[/h1] The nice things are the character models. They look pretty nice and some of the sex scenes, despite being quite short, also look nice. [h1]The Bad[/h1] The annoying things are everything else surrounding it. The interface is cumbersome and switching actions has Billy moving around for no reason. The character's movement is slow and while double clicking helps a little, it still felt annoying to traverse the various sections. The puzzles are too basic. The story and characters are written and presented in a very simplistic way with little subtley about the events unfolding and not enough care about giving them some sort of depth. Personality wise, these people didn't feel like a family, but like puppets. The horror part was sorely lacking, even taking in consideration the ending (which felt unfulfilling). With more care devoted to expanding the interactions between the characters and the background of the story as well as a more coherent storytelling, with a darker atmosphere and a bit more well directed/written sex scenes that also lasted a bit longer, this could have been an enjoyable dark and erotic horror story. As it stands, the only things to be scared of here are some of the dialogues and the incest for those turned off by it. The game is cheap and it doesn't hide its short duration, as it says right on the store page that it will last between 1 and 2 hours following a walkthrough but even so, I can't really recommend it unless it's on sale.

I know Funhaus played this back in the day and that's the only reason why I got this game but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this game is so bad and boring. Can't even give it a positive for the Funhaus crew.

I do not recommend this game as a good game in itself, even with the thumbs up (not yet anyhow). The thumbs up is more for the new content for mature/adult audiences and a support for better adult themed games to be developed. Now about this game non spoiler: A adult (read: full uncensored (with official patch) graphic sex) adventure much like old school 90s games like gabriel knights and the like. point and click, solve some puzzles, etc. Not a bad format. >Graphics are decent enough...nothing too distractingly bad, but the navigation is terrible around the areas ( for instance, in front of the house, to go to the left, you gotta find a area on the right to exit to...) >The controls are absolutely horrible. you eventually realize double clicking will get your char from slow motion moping speed to a slow walk >The puzzles are...you will need to read and follow a walkthrough it is that bizarre and unintuitive...and the game scenery isn't interesting enough to spend hours at a slow plod through the house and area to figure out what they are wanting. >The story theme is fine enough. Taboo themed so if you are put off by such things, its not a game for you. The story itself is poorly written..even for what is ultimately a porn game (If its gonna be on Steam, we should expect more) >The animations are laughably bad. >The main character is meant to be 18, and is almost half the height of his mother/father/brother/his girlfriend...and looks like a short 13 year old...it doesn't make sense >The dialog is over the peoples heads...and its a scroll screen game, meaning they could be talking and you don't see it because you aren't viewing them...total fail >The actual dialog is just terrible....its like everyone is a a--hole from junior high as their main character attribute. Should you buy it? Well, sure. Its 5 bucks, if that breaks the bank, then obviously don't...but the title itself is a 1st (well, second if you include House Party). Its like perhaps the first airplane...a rickety machine that at best does a great hop before crashing into a barn...so there is a collecting consideration to have. But mostly, I would like to usher in new (and hopefully better) adult games market by showing a bit of support. If this was one of a hundred games out there of similar explicit content, I would give this a resounding thumbs down, but its not..its a new opening, and that is my only reason to drop a bit of cash simply as a props for the attempt type thing. If you are wanting good adult content in games, a modded skyrim is light years ahead. I would like to see a major overhaul of this game done, from story length, buggyness and crappy writing, etc..basically rebuild it nearly completely. Until then, consider this simply a novelty purchase and a purchase simply to support a new genre opening up on Steam.

This is the kind of game that is basically a incest porn. If you download uncensored patch, then it's worth it. Otherwise, you will be playing heavily censored game. Hopefully we will see better games with this premise. I enjoyed the weird story and I would like to see more. Perhaps we will see some sequel of this in the future.

Sadly, I cannot recommend this game, not even at the "cheap" price. 3/10. I really wanted to like and support it, as adult content on Steam is a rarity, and this needs to change. So, yes, there are a very few adult scenes, and they are quite nice, BUT they are way to few (actually 3 scenes, where the 3rd is summary of 1+2). And the adventure part is just horrible (which is 95% of the short game)... tiny items you need to find to progress, you will get stuck, animations are awkward, slow transitions between screens, and things are suddenly there where they where not before, just because you triggered something which changed everything, without you knowing... In summary, too little for the adult game it tries to be, and really bad and annoying adventure part to see those few scenes where you have no choices or options, cant even rewatch them...

You always wanted to be a typical modern, boring, slow teenager, insulting everybody 4 his own dumbness and who does not want to do ANYTHING but has too important stuff 2 do than to sit on a sofa for a minute? Here u go! Dirty game. Dirty story, dirty wayfinding, dirty object finding/handling, dirty textures. Even if the story gets u "up", the movement, the textures and the lame characters will get u down again. Was already an effort to get to the first s3x-scene. Looked very uncensored to me (uncensore patch installed) - even though the intro still tells me its censored. The uncensored-patch alone even weights 1,8 Gig. If I download a few pr0ns from the net instead of "playing" this game, it still saves me a few gigs of HD space. Summarized: May be ok to tell you a dirty story, but sux as an easy playable, enjoyable adventure.
