Great game with an awesome story, graphics, music, characters, and scares! A very immersive experience.
Great game, very fun and engaging.
Very immersive. 100%
Really cool adventure game. The characters are interesting. The story is a mix of Saw and Lost. There are some points where you can make choices that effect the story. I don’t know if this game is easy or I’m just getting better at adventure games, but I’ve hardly had to look at a walkthrough at all.
Created by one man, Stonewall Penitentary is a classic point and click 'murder mystery' borrowing heavily from Saw and Then There Were None. You're William Thane, a man who finds himself locked up in a derelict jail with no memory of how he got there, and he has to solve the mysteries of the prison and his fellow 'guests' if he is to escape. The gameplay is simple - point and click to navigate the pre-drawn scenes and solve the puzzles - and the puzzles are pretty decent albeit in places very tricky and the actual navigation is maybe lacking intuitivity. The plot and acting are a mixed back - the plot is definitely fun and keeps you guessing, but the acting is inconsistent - some characters are great, others not so much - but the cheesiness does add to the effect of a yarn. It's a short game weighing in at at about 5 hours but it keeps you hooked for that period pretty well - it's a well-fleshed out story and for a one man job it's very polished, except one red herring which rather defined my game a tad! If you want a good old fashioned 'whodunnit' in the style of a graphic novel you could do a lot worse than this.
Very interesting point&click adventure ... https://youtu.be/YB8Fba6wUNE
An exciting whodunnit mystery game, which could be the love child of Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None and the game Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors from the Zero Escape Trilogy. The story is interesting and has a great pace throughout the game, the puzzles are reasonable and the gameplay is smooth. If you are looking for an adventure game with difficult puzzles, this may not be the game for you. But you should definitely not miss it if you like a thrilling and mature detective story. And it's a Steam achievement if you can find out who the culprit actually is (I managed to do it, because the clues are fair, but it's easy to miss)!
Stonewall Penitentiary is a very well written thriller and plays like a good interactive book that should provide about 7-8 hours of fun. As the game description says, it's a "whodunnit" but a really good one - kept me intrigued till the end. The gameplay is mainly point n' click with puzzles, all in beautifully made 2D scenes, although the setting itself can be a bit claustrophobic at times. The characters are pretty generic but varied and believable, the voice acting is not bad either. Scene navigation is easy, the UI and its interactions are very intuitive - point n' click lovers should feel right at home here.
great little game-perhaps not utterly original and a couple of puzzles were way too hard, but the authors maintained a high tension through the whole experience, bravo!
