启动黑屏,有音乐却没有画面!按任何按键都无效~只能重启!坑! 垃圾游戏搞啥全屏!
Was a good game, but its unsupported now and super broken on windows 10. So broken that it completely overrides all of windows ability to control the screen apparently, HARD RESET is only way out
The premise is interesting but the execution is flawed. The UI is awful and you can barely see whatever anything is and what anything does. the randomized levels are poorly implemented, as a lot of times, the only way forward is to break down the walls. Not to mention how broken it is on win 10. fullscreen don't work upon launching the game despite having it set in the options, and then when manually entering fullscreen, multiple UI elements won't work properly. and it crashes numerous times.
Despite being exactly the sort of thing I like, I can't recommend Steam Marines. It's mostly good, but there are two things that led to me uninstalling this. First is a relatively small taste thing - it's a game focusing on ranged combat where you can only shoot in a direct line in front of you. Even Space Hulk lets you shoot along diagonals. Although I recognise this is a deliberate design choice, making the combat more like a puzzle or board game, I found it frustrating. If that was the only problem, I might have come back to it and learned to like it. However, the huge technical issues prevented me from ever getting that far. The game crashes the whole system, requiring a hardware reset, if you have two monitors enabled. Look, I get that graphics programming is really hard, but I can't risk bringing my entire machine down (losing work, etc) just because I forgot to disable monitors before starting this game. "Disable other monitors" is listed on a long list of stuff you're supposed to do to get the game working, which includes things like reverting Catalyst drivers to a particular version. Neither of these are really acceptable things to demand of your users. Still, in the short time I had with this game it showed promise. I do hope there is a sequel that isn't a liability to have installed. In the meantime, I'd recommend SOTS: The Pit, DoomRL, or most of the Space Hulk games.
No longer runs on my computer. Crashes my PC whenever I try to run. Tried stickied note in forums, didn't help.
The main menu music is very catchy. That's about it. I give it the final score of 2 incorrectly aligned vertical doors out of 5.
was maybe more acceptable at release, but way too clunky nowadays
Loved playing the game until it started crashing my computer at load up. I reviewed the issues further and fount that it could be caused by the coding. I poked around in it and adjusted the Anti Antialiasing settings on the video card to application controled and still produced a black screen at load up. I have a newer windows 10 computer and....Well.... it was fun while it lasted..... adjusted code from - <Resolution>800 600 32</Resolution> to <Resolution>1920 1080 32</Resolution> and adjusted <FullScreen>0</FullScreen> <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes" ?> <TorqueGameConfiguration> <Company>Worthless Bums</Company> <GameName>Steam Marines</GameName> <Resolution>1920 1080 32</Resolution> <BitDepth>32</BitDepth> <FullScreen>0</FullScreen> <VerticalSync>1</VerticalSync> <CommonVer>114</CommonVer> <ConsoleKey>ctrl tilde</ConsoleKey> <ScreenShotKey>print</ScreenShotKey> <FullscreenKey>alt enter</FullscreenKey> <UsesNetwork>0</UsesNetwork> <UsesAudio>1</UsesAudio> <DefaultScene>^AppCore/data/levels/startLevel.t2d</DefaultScene> <CameraTrackSpeed>4</CameraTrackSpeed> <MonsterTurnSpeed>4</MonsterTurnSpeed> <AutoEndTurns>1</AutoEndTurns> <AutoSwitchCharacters>1</AutoSwitchCharacters> <AutoEndTurnSwitchCharacters>1</AutoEndTurnSwitchCharacters> <FadingFogOfWarToggle>0</FadingFogOfWarToggle> <EnemyCameraLock>1</EnemyCameraLock> <AutoLoot>1</AutoLoot> <FacingCostsAP>1</FacingCostsAP> <AutoFacing>1</AutoFacing> <AutoLock>0</AutoLock> <AlwaysShowCursor>0</AlwaysShowCursor> <AlwaysShowMoveIndicator>0</AlwaysShowMoveIndicator> <LargeFont>1</LargeFont> <MusicVolume>0.800000012</MusicVolume> <SoundVolume>0.800000012</SoundVolume> </TorqueGameConfiguration>
Excellent tactical rouguelike! I didn't realize the depth of this game when I first started playing, though I did love it right away. After a few runs I learned more about the different equipment and perks and really learned how to use my marines as one coherent unit. Immensely fun and tactically challenging. I've had this game for years and I always come back to it.
