I have had an absolute blast playing this game!!! this is what a starship troopers game is meant to be like!! I know this game only just came out this year, but I would love to see a sequel to this game!! seeing Casper return as Johnny Rico was a huge nostalgia trip too!!

Starship Troopers Ultimate Bug War is really everything I’ve wanted out of a single player Starship Troopers FPS. It’s a great, albeit short, dive into an IP I am happy is getting more attention. First and foremost, I’m so glad we have a ST game in which we can FINALLY play as the bugs. The bug campaign is a standalone experience that flips the script on what you’d expect from a ST game. I loved running around as a big bug and smashing the Federation. I really wanted ST Terran Command to allow for bug gameplay but I was disappointed that it was not included. The live action cutscenes that showcase the return of Iconic movie actors are welcome, even if they are substantively confusing. The game is self-aware, encouraging the player to continue through the game as some sort of training, and don’t follow the storyline of the player’s character. They were a nice addition to the game. The Human campaign missions are open world affairs, tasking the player with objectives scattered around a big open map. All the iconic weapons are present and able to be used, as well as the cool mechs! Shooting feels good and the bugs are fantastically well represented and have a ton of variants! There is more bug variety than ST Extermination, which is cool. I really enjoyed this game and would recommend it to fans of ST who want a fun FPS to play that doesn’t take itself too seriously or overstay its welcome.
