Starship Rubicon is a modern take on the classic space shooter genre. It's a smart and challenging rogue-lite that features a unique control scheme, pixel art remixed with NASA photographs, and an existential crisis about who is REALLY the monster.

An excellent game, the dev clearly put a lot of time and effort into it, and it shows. Pros: * Good starting loadout variety. My personal favourite is the Pakiceph. * Good enemy type variety. There are varieties that teleport, swarm, form laser networks, and much more. * Good equipment variety. All sorts of weapons, abilities, and upgrades are available. * Interesting tetris-esque outfitting system. * Variety of level types. * Amusing dialogue. Cons: * The plot is thin, and somewhat cliche I've been playing this on Windows 10 for a while with no issues, so it seems the issues the author mentioned do not occur on all Windows 10 machines.
This is quite a pleasant 2D space shooter. Simple yet satisfying combat, nice flight controls, entertaining and unique chacacters, and a nice almost tetris-esque minigame for modifying your ship with bonus points for those with OCD about everything being symmetrical. The game is maybe a little on the short side, but was definately enjoyable and well worth the small price. The only thing I feel like it lacks is appropriate recognition, so show this game some love!

Fun little game with some depth and customization if you like games like Asteroids. It has an FTL feel with the campaign but does not present the player with enough weapons and upgrades before the end to make it feel like you have improved your ship. However, there is ship customization that you can start the game in your fully customized ship as you please but that removes any meaningful progression during that run. Great game to get on sale
Starship Rubicon is a ripoff of the 1962 oscilloscope/video game, SpaceWar!. The developers added a bunch of features to the game, including ship customisation and a procedurally generated environment. While the premise is not terrible, the game crashes immediately on launch and cannot be played on the latest builds of Windows 10. Because the game cannot be played, I do not recommend it, especially for the whopping $10 price tag for a 2D SpaceWar! ripoff.
Ship customization, unlockables.. what more do you need for a space arcade shooter? Sounds are bit dull maybe, but music is great! Better game than what it looks on the videos!
Tags: Topdown Shooter Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Broken controls. Core gameplay not working correctly. Waste of excellent Art. Developper is actually very polite. If he gets to fix the game hope he re-releases a standalone entry. Controls had an issue where the ship would react incorrectly to inputs. Making right arrow act as a forward thrust. While forward arrow does nothing for example. Unapologetic developper makes news announcement about how he cant be arsed to find windows 10 to debug. Trying to launch in Win7 compatibility mode does not work. Im not setting up dual boot or virtualization for this. This is ridiculous. I am spending more effort troubleshooting this than the dev is. Excellent work on the portraits, some of the audio, and the overall tone of the game. Controls are horribly broken. Xbox was not picked up and keyboard just... made no sense, right arrow to sometimes move forward, sometimes do nothing. A lot of attention in the sprites for the ship, the on screen reticle, and the heads-up information about health, the hitbox with shields all around it. It is beautiful. I also liked the animation for asteroids or whatever they were exploding.
good game
Fun little indie game, it combines elements from Asteroids, Galaxian and FTL. The graphical style is refreshing. However, sometimes it feels like the game is incomplete, it needs more content and polish.
