I'm a TO and hosted this game for a mystery game tournament. Everyone loved it, it's been super fun for fighting game players and casuals alike. The game feels incredibly responsive and hits truly feel satisfying. If you wanna try a new 2D fighting game or just wanna get a game to play with friends IRL, get this, it's worth it!
I can see heavy potential with this fighting game. Directional inputs are super easy to remember ( think ssb style ) Artwork is kinda weird but easy enough to get used to. I can see that there is some depth the the combo strings once you get used to how everything lays out. Right now there is no online multiplayer (which will be sick to try once it gets developed) but you can kind of do a work around with steam remote play. Overall has a lot of potential and will be interesting to try out with friends
Cool game cant wait for more updates, this game really needs online multiplayer
Disclosure: I have received a free beta key from the developers. I didn't get any compensation. Starkheim Tournament feels like a 2D Soulcalibur with anime fighter elements. While the control system is a little unusual (jump button and optional block button), the game flow is very intuitive. Every attack feels heavy enough and the presentation is actually top notch: the soud design is amazing and every character is actually fully voice acted. Unfortunately the game has no online multiplayer and currently only 4 characters (+ training, local versus, a tug-of-war libra mode, and versus CPU). Still, I think it's worth the asking price and feels like a very fresh take on the genre.
Quite solid 2D fighting game very reminiscent of Soul Calibur and older anime fighting games in both gameplay and aesthetic (got the game for free as a price for winning a tournament at an event)
Just played quite a few rounds with my buddy over Steam Share and it is quite a fun game! The bones are all there for a great 2D fighter. Some things don't make sense but it is early access and will only get better with time.
game feels smooth and looks great with a lot of mechanics that are very well implemented. good fight pace, nice sprites, and a really cool 'libra' mode. happy to support and excited to see more characters and future updates
solid fighter! with deep mechancis! I strongly recomend!
Really fun game actually. Would like to be able to map the jump button to up. Only complaint really
Starkheim Tournament s a love little fighting game for all of us nostalgia-driven retro arcade fans. The groundwork is really solid, and it avoids many of the pitfalls that indie fighting game developers sometimes fall into. There is definetly a "mastering" element to the gameplay, and I can only image how intense it can get when/if an online matchmaking or ladder gets added. Its obviously early access but still, the game shows a lot of promise. Even just the faded out characters in the character selection screen gets me all excited for continued updates for this gem, like I'm a 10 year old kid again trying to unlock Gon in Tekken after I heard a playground rumour that there was a little dinosaur on the game. The future looks bright for Starkheim Tournament! I'll be tuned in the whole way!
