About

In Starbound, you create your own story - there’s no wrong way to play! You may choose to save the universe from the forces that destroyed your home, uncovering greater galactic mysteries in the process, or you may wish to forego a heroic journey entirely in favor of colonizing uncharted planets.

Settle down and farm the land, become an intergalactic landlord, hop from planet to planet collecting rare creatures, or delve into dangerous dungeons and lay claim to extraordinary treasures.
Discover ancient temples and modern metropolises, trees with eyes, and mischievous penguins. Make use of hundreds of materials and over two thousand objects to build a sleepy secluded cabin in the woods, a medieval castle, underwater arcade, or even a space station.

Starbound has been built from the ground up to be multiplayer and easily moddable. You have the tools to make the universe your own and modify the game to suit your play style - add new items, races, planet types, dungeons, and quests - the possibilities are limitless.

Add-ons
Each DLC is estimated with the same model as a game, then summed — a modeled figure, not reported DLC sales.
Sums Steam only; Xbox, GOG publish no volume signal, so the true total is higher by an unknown amount.
Updates
Build ids and update times come straight from Steam's PICS — the same source SteamDB reads. Patch history grows as we record new builds.

Didn't have that much fun with this one. It got boring surprisingly quickly, and I didn't really understand what I was doing at first with its vague story. It feels very inconsistent with its art style (almost as if it doesn't know what it wants to be), you'd think most of the assets are modded in. It has a bunch of different races, so there's that at least, but they don't really stand out from one another. I've also heard some not-so-good things with the development process as well so I can't recommend it.
Для меня, эта игра стала не просто очередным подобием рпг и путешествий, а действительно интересным открытым миром, правда чтобы насладиться игрой в полном размере требуется установить множество модов, но это не проблема.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

While I have enjoyed Starbound when it was being actively updated, this game is abandonware carried entirely by its mods. And sure, while games do eventually enter a finished state which means no more updating, there's still things that were meant to be added around the beginning of its life and have just been passed up and put off. The monster creating competition, the very one where Poptops came from, had three runners-up who were supposed to get their creations added too. All three had more interesting and complex monster designs than the Poptop and all three have still not been added to this day. These creations are so old and forgotten that not even modders remember they exist. The Virorbs in particular had such potential and variety, but they're nothing more than a motionless stuffed toy in the universe of Starbound. Starbound has a great combo of core ideas. Planet travelling, colony building, monster catching, randomly generated worlds and creatures and weapons, the rideable mechs and boss arenas being places you'd go to rather than build one yourself. But you have things like the humanoid AI being limited and terrible, unable to handle guns and their energy levels properly, and there's a memory leak issue that causes the fps to steadily degrade the longer you'd play, requiring you to close the game every half hour for steady performance. And this issue has been present in the game since day 1, it's still not fixed. Sure, this game might be worth something positive if you play it with enough mods. But that's not the base game doing the heavy lifting, it's just serving as a platform for fanmade creations to pretend that the devs still care about it. So I cannot in good conscience make this a positive review.
pur produit, c'est excellent
it like terraria but more
makes me sad. i miss you, im sorry what that did to you. you had so much potential
