I would recommend the game because it's fun and the story is great. I would recommend the PTS so you can add some constructive criticism and improve the game. However that being said I did not enjoy playing the latest pts release for the upcomming 7.2 release. Which i let them know.
love
Where do I begin...? "Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away..." Ten years ago, I began playing Star Wars The Old Republic and guess what... I'm still playing it. Why? Pros: 1.) All throughout this game is the iconic music of John Williams. 2.) Each individual class has a well-written story lovingly crafted by Daniel Erickson and Drew Karpyshyn. 3.) Each planet has its own story should you choose to play the planetary mission arch. 4.) The base game can be played easily without having to subscribe... in other words, it is not pay-to-win. 5.) You don't need a bleeding-edge PC or laptop to play this game, however as of Patch 7.2.1, your graphics card will need some oomph to it because low graphics presets have been removed from the game. 6.) /ignore is your friend. Use it with extreme prejudice. 7.) It is supremely better than Disney Star Wars. (FACT!) 8.) It is a perfect reason to buy the Steam Deck and the Steam Deck Dock! Cons: 1.) An over-abundance of Gold Spammers and Trolls. /ignore is your friend. Use it with extreme prejudice. 2.) General chat is a politically toxic mess. /ignore is your friend. Use it with extreme prejudice. 3.) You sometimes have to install Direct X 9c in order to get the game to work. This is because all later versions of Direct X do not include certain files from 9c which SWTOR absolutely needs in order to run. (It would be a nice touch if Direct X 9c could just be included in the SWTOR download.) 4.) In a very VERY misguided attempt to reduce in-game inflation, Patch 7.2.1 is going to cause new players to find it very difficult to earn credits (SWTOR's money). The established player-base and long-time veterans of the game objected to this change because it won't stop in-game inflation. It'll just hurt new players. Tips: 1.) Use a Security Key to add two-factor authentication to your account. This will prevent account theft and give you 100 free Cartel Coins every month. Do this using either the iPhone App, Android App, or the WinAuth Google Authenticator. 2.) If you are new to SWTOR, I strongly recommend that you take Slicing (looting lock-boxes) or Scavenging (looting defeated silver and gold droids) as your crew skill of choice because what you farm with these crew skills can easily be sold to vendors for quick credits. It can be a bit of a grind, but it can be a life-saver. In all of the years that I have played video games, I have never been so satisfied by a game such as this. May it see another ten years! Give it a try. You might like it.
