Star Wars: Droid Repair Bay is a short VR experience where you work for the Resistance as a **droid mechanic**, which is a fancy way of saying: > “You’re a space IT guy for spherical robots that have seen some things.” You’re standing in a hangar, war going on outside, and your job is to: * Catch incoming broken droids * Open them up like space piñatas * Wiggle their insides until they stop screaming in beeps --- ### Pros: * You get to hang out with BB-8 and other droids, and they all react like excitable metal puppies when you fix them. Instant serotonin. * Tools feel very “Star Wars OSHA violation”: grabby arms, scanners, panels that pop open with suspicious sparks—10/10 immersion. * No combat, no dying, just you calmly doing tech support while an intergalactic war presumably happens off-camera. Relatable. * Great “show off VR to someone” game: looks cool, plays simple, nobody has to explain why you died to a stormtrooper. --- ### Cons: * It’s short. Like, “coffee break demo” short. Blink and you’re back in your living room questioning your life choices. * Zero difficulty. You’re not so much a mechanic as you are a gentle button presser with union-level plot armor. * You will get unreasonably attached to at least one droid and then they’ll just… roll away. No goodbye. No forwarding address. --- ### Peak Droid Repair Bay Moments: * Dropping a droid by accident and immediately apologizing out loud like it’s going to leave a bad Yelp review. * Opening a panel and staring at glowing space guts, pretending you know what any of it does. * Fixing BB-8, watching him chirp and roll in circles, and thinking “Yeah. I’m basically a hero.” * Finishing the whole thing and desperately wishing your real job praised you as much as this one happy robot just did. --- 8.5/10 Chill, cute, and over too quickly—like being the good guy in Star Wars for once. Would clock into my Resistance shift, poke around in droid organs, and get paid in beeps and boops again.

This is the kind of game that makes me really wish that I could do more than offer a binary yes/no review. This little VR experience (which I can't properly call a game), is only recommended because its free. Let's start with the positive. The graphics are good, the minigame is intuitive, and it's a great showcase of what VR can do. Also, it's free, so there's no reason [i]not[/i] to give it a try, if only briefly. My biggest complaint about this experience - and the reason I won't call it a game - is because there's no stakes whatsoever. You don't fetch the droid in time? The crane will autopilot to fetch it. You don't fix a droid in time? It'll just jump off the table anyway, and apparently be none the worse for wear. You drop a component? A droid helper will fetch you a new one. You don't resolve the "twist" at the end? It'll sort itself out anyway. In other words, although there is an interactive element, nothing you do actually matters to the short vignette around you. I would much rather one or more droids not ending up operational if you don't fix them, or the situation at the end only being resolved when you fix it, etc. so that you feel you are having an actual impact on the outcome rather than being a glorified observer. Then you have the length of the experience. My playtime - a little less than an hour - was me playing through this game 4-5 times to 99% the achievements (I'm not going for the BS final one). That makes this only around 10 minutes or so per playthrough, which is absurdly short for anything you pay for. Fortunately, this is a glorified advertisement for The Last Jedi (and Nissan, for some reason), so at least there's that. And finally, my last gripe is that they couldn't even be bothered to have a functional UI. I couldn't find any method to just [i]restart[/i] the game. I had to close it and then re-open it every time I wanted to go for another run for the sake of achievements - and this is a game where it's literally impossible to get all the achievements in one go (one is for not dropping anything, another for dropping a bunch of stuff) - so the lack of a "play again" option, even just nestled underneath the advertisement or off to your side or something, was an inconvenient lack of thought. Overall, this feels like a game designed for 5-year-olds, but designed for an expensive piece of technology that would be played mostly by adults. It's a short and unsatisfying experienced if you really dig into it, but anyone who enjoys Star Wars might as well try it out given it's free.

Взаимодействие с окружением реализовано на хорошем уровне, позволяя использовать различные инструменты и оборудование. Звуковое сопровождение, включающее знакомые звуки дроидов и музыкальные темы из "Звездных Войн", усиливает эффект погружения. Игра короткая, больше похожа на интерактивный эпизод, но является отличной демонстрацией возможностей VR и приятным развлечением для фанатов франшизы. Она идеально подходит для коротких игровых сессий и знакомит с миром "Звездных Войн" в новом формате. Хотелось бы больше контента и сложных задач, но даже в текущем виде игра оставляет положительные впечатления.
