When I bought this game I understood it was mostly a Stellaris reskin, but honestly that was fine for me. For Trek gamers we haven't had a good ST themed strategy game in a long time and even the really good Star Trek New Horizons mod for Stellaris can get so clunky & slow. There was opportunity for a dedicated strategy game and with a preexisting template you'd think it'd make this a streamlined game. Unfortunately, what we got instead was the cosmetic changes without much improvement and even some added glitches & quirks that make the gameplay tedious after awhile. The flavor text of the factions may suggest a unique playstyle for them, but in truth the mechanics force you to play similar strategies. There's not that many techs or missions or cultural ideas like there are in Stellaris and even compared to older titles like Birth of the Federation there is alot of missing potential. I wouldn't recommend it for those reasons, but also because the developer got cut apart by staff layoffs so this game is effectively abandoned. No new updates have came out since late 2023 and doesn't seem like that'll change anytime soon. It blows because they did well with the 2016 Master of Orion game If you are a Star Trek fan, you're better off getting Stellaris and then getting the STNH mod because that's closest we're getting for the foreseeable future.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

abandoned
Abandoned cash grab clone of an outdated-at-the-time version of Stellaris. Absolute shame.
***DO NOT BUY THIS GAME*** PARADOX QUIETLY DROPPED SUPPORT AND COULDN'T EVEN ANNOUNCE IT ON STEAM. HAD TO HIDE IT IN THEIR OWN FORUMS. PARADOX SHOULD BE ASHAMED AND STEAM SHOULD BE REMOVING THIS.
Game clearly not finished abandoned by the makers. even the ui scaling is still in experimental???? and it's finished????
Abandonware :(
As a fan of Star Trek and Stellaris, a Stellaris game based on the Star Trek universe is intriguing and can provide lots of lore/Beta canon material. At this stage, there are 4 criticisms: 1) Lack of Ferengi Alliance. 2) Lack of Dominion. 3) Small Local Space map compared to Star Trek: Star Charts and canon maps from DSC/SNW. 4) No era progression in starships - same ship classes for any in-game year. The primary issue is that game development was suddenly abandoned by Paradox. I'd only recommend this game if you are into experiencing every piece of Star Trek content there is. Unfortunately, this game lived short and floundered.
i think the entire studio folded, paradox is only the publisher. anyways, they didn't even understand star trek and it showed. star trek fans would have fudged the use of currency, if you didn't hire a voice actress and then have them explicitly say it still exists in the federation, it does not. this would have been bad enough if they didn't double down with a living standard that doesn't even match the equality of the utopian abundance living standard in stellaris. a living standard that was inspired by the famous example set by the moneyless society of the federation! lol i really hoped this game would do well, because it has a lot of potential IF it had the kind of "custodian" support stellaris has, and if those glaring issues with the scifi politics were fixed, it could have grown. but they literally fired everyone and ran with the money. i wish paradox would hire another studio to clean up the mess, it's not at all unsalvageable, it just needs staff to do it. and cyberpunk proved that a game shown love can win back fans thought long lost.
rip-off that never got support, don't buy it
