About
On a distant planet, rifts in space are opening — threatening to release planet-devouring monsters into the galaxy. Close the rifts and save the galaxy in this modern Metroidvanian quest with tight platforming, fast-paced combat, and deep RPG progression.
COMBAT: Engage in fast, fluid battles against a wide variety of enemies and bosses across multiple distinct biomes. Use precision platforming, invincible dashes, flight, and more. Switch between customizable weapons on the fly and use every skill at your disposal.
EXPLORATION: Discover a vast, interconnected alien world packed with hidden paths, alternate routes and mysterious rifts. Be on the lookout for Vitality Sparks, Power Sparks, and other upgrades. As your abilities evolve, so does the world around you.
CUSTOMIZATION: Collect over 150 unique Skill Chips — each offering new abilities, passive buffs, and weapon modifications — are available. Slot them into a puzzle-like skill grid to shape your build, enhance your arsenal, and create a playstyle that's your own. With so much to find, no two playthroughs are exactly the same!
PROGRESSION: You're not in this fight alone. Rescue stranded colonists to rebuild and expand the outpost. Each person you rescue brings something new. Sell loot and make upgrades. As you grow stronger, so does your home base.
Star Rift Saga takes the best elements of the Metroidvania genre — ability-based progression, non-linear exploration, and rewarding secrets — while minimizing the repetitive backtracking that can slow down the pace. You'll be rewarded for backtracking and exploring areas you've already been more deeply, but not required to.
Explore a vast, interconnected planet with secrets around every corner.
Fight a variety of enemies and bosses in real-time platforming combat using weapons and items on the fly.
Collect items and skill chips to help you in tight situations. No need to stop the action or navigate a menu to use one, your inventory is always right at your fingertips!
Customize your playstyle using over 140 skill chips. Boost your stats, gain new abilities, or change entire weapons by equipping chips in the puzzle-based skill grid.
Upgrade your arsenal. You'll find new equipment and weapons to reach new areas, increase the selection at your local items shop, and even rescue colonists to gain new benefits at the outpost.

This was a great metroidvania. Unique powers and exploration. Not a huge game. Looks like I finished it at about 9 hours which honestly feels perfect. The shooting and movement feel great. The bosses were a little on the easy side but I'm okay with that.
Amazing Metroidvania! The gameplay is fast and fun and the progression is spot on! Love the optional challenges and exploring new paths that open up throughout the game as you advance.
Wonderful game! The chip system allows for a lot of creative builds.

Big fan of the chip system so far, seems like I still have a lot to discover. Reminds me of the old MegaMan games I played on the GBA. I'm not sure if/when I'll get good enough to take advantage of the chain effects, I don't know if there's enough enemies at once to really get going yet. That being said I'm never struggling for ammo and that's something I'll always appreciate. Will update as I play.
Pretty fun game and have enjoyed my time playing so far. The aesthetics are good, the sprite work is neat, the combat is pretty responsive/fluid, the upgrades and build path also seem interesting with a kind of mini puzzle to make everything work. Will have to post a more in-depth review later once I've finished more of the game, since I've only beaten the 2nd boss so far.
About 2 hours in an its an awesome game so far. I played the demo a bit and the full game is an even better experience. Plus it is really nice to see the consistent patches the game is getting to touch up any glitches. All of the systems from leveling to chip installing to weapon unlocking feel really cohesive and allow for a lot of different ways to customize how you play from the very get go.
Bloody great new metroidvania that's perfect for kids! (but still interesting and fun enough for adults)! Features a mild story about freeing citizens from a rift while being chased by baddies. Level-ups & equipment/weapon upgrades are constant, it never feels boring. Simple controls, very user-friendly, good variety & mix of combat & platform. Fun game. Tight controls. Plenty of weapon variety. Tons of difficulty options. Nice biomes. Cool mechanics. Really interesting chip system. My only complaint is that there isnt a way to target farm missing chips and items for 100% completion. Other than that A+
This started out fun, then corpse runs and boss runs ruined the game. This feels like a 2017 metroidvania release that aged badly.
