I mean it’s good for a free game .. 7 / 10
Stairway is a psychological horror title developed and published by Hungry Games that transforms an ordinary apartment stairwell into a source of constant tension and uncertainty. Built around the increasingly popular anomaly-spotting genre, the game asks players to navigate a seemingly endless staircase while carefully observing their surroundings for anything that appears out of place. The concept is intentionally simple, but its execution demonstrates how effective minimalistic horror can be when atmosphere and player awareness become the primary gameplay mechanics. The entire experience revolves around observation. Players begin by familiarizing themselves with the normal appearance of the stairwell and then continue descending floor after floor. Along the way, strange anomalies may appear, ranging from obvious environmental distortions to subtle changes that can easily go unnoticed. The challenge lies in determining whether a floor remains unchanged or if an anomaly has manifested. Correct decisions allow progress, while mistakes can halt advancement and force players to start over. This straightforward loop creates a surprising amount of suspense because every step forward depends on memory, concentration, and attention to detail. One of the game's strongest qualities is its ability to generate fear without relying heavily on traditional horror tropes. There are no elaborate combat systems, inventory mechanics, or lengthy story sequences. Instead, the tension emerges from uncertainty. Players constantly question whether an object has moved, whether a shadow appears different, or whether something unsettling has appeared where it should not be. The repetitive nature of the stairwell actually works in the game's favor, making even the smallest alteration feel significant. As a result, Stairway creates an atmosphere that is more psychological than shocking, encouraging players to remain alert throughout every run. Visually, the game adopts a realistic and grounded presentation that enhances its premise. The apartment building feels believable and intentionally mundane, allowing anomalies to stand out when they occur. Lighting plays a key role in establishing mood, with dim hallways and confined spaces contributing to a persistent sense of unease. Rather than overwhelming players with visual effects, the game focuses on environmental consistency, making changes more noticeable and impactful. This design philosophy proves highly effective for a title centered around observation. The variety of anomalies helps maintain player interest across multiple attempts. Some changes are immediately recognizable, while others require careful scrutiny and familiarity with the environment. This encourages replayability, as players who successfully reach the end may return to discover anomalies they missed during previous runs. Achievement hunters and completionists will find additional motivation in uncovering every hidden variation scattered throughout the building. The unpredictability of each playthrough prevents the formula from becoming entirely predictable, even after multiple sessions. Audio design also contributes significantly to the overall experience. Ambient sounds, footsteps, and moments of silence combine to create a lingering feeling of discomfort. The game understands that suspense often comes from anticipation rather than constant scares. Every descent carries the possibility that something unexpected awaits on the next floor, and the soundscape reinforces this anxiety without becoming intrusive. The result is a horror experience that remains effective through atmosphere rather than excessive jump scares. As a free-to-play release, Stairway offers impressive value. While the overall length is relatively short compared to larger horror games, its focused design ensures that the core concept remains engaging throughout. Some players may wish for more environments, additional anomaly types, or expanded mechanics, but the game's concise scope prevents repetition from becoming overly tiresome. It succeeds by concentrating on a single idea and executing it well rather than attempting to do too much. Stairway is ultimately a strong example of how independent developers can create memorable horror experiences using simple concepts and smart design choices. Its emphasis on observation, psychological tension, and environmental storytelling results in a game that feels far more engaging than its modest scale might suggest. Fans of anomaly-hunting titles and atmospheric horror games will likely appreciate its focused gameplay and eerie atmosphere. Although brief, it delivers a satisfying and suspenseful experience that showcases the potential of both the genre and its developer. Rating: 8/10

Great game, little challenging but interesting.
Mało to pobudzające. Jedyny problem jest w sumie taki, że nie wiadomo co zrobić, gdy się trafi na anomalię. Zbliżyć? Nacisnąć E? Nic nie zrobić? A trzeba zawrócić. Wtedy dopiero progres zaczyna się naliczać... 5-/10.
Игра проходится за 10 минут,а вот если ты хочешь пройти на 100%,то я лично с руководствами отыграл за 45 минут все 26 аномалий 9/10
Yeah, fun little anomaly game. Got me a couple of times with a good jump scare lol
stranger things
Das Spiel ist einfach klasse und kann locker mit denen mithalten, die deutlich mehr kosten. Vielen Dank an jeden, der daran gearbeitet hat, ich hatte eine schöne Zeit in dem Spiel :)
