About
Battle with up to 6 players in this local multiplayer party game, sure to bring "edge-of-your-seat" moments to your next game night!
Squarena is a skill-based multiplayer party game with an emphasis on physics combat. The game mechanics support ease of entry with a high skill ceiling. Enjoy a variety of arenas and variations in this 2D physics arena shooter, where your character's health determines its size. The lower your health, the smaller you become which makes it easier to maneuver and avoid bullets, but it also means the recoil from shooting will have a bigger impact on you! Don't forget that you have your teleport and shield abilities to use and try to get the edge in the battle as well!
2-6* player battles

Expanding list of maps that offer varied gameplay

Feel the intensity of battle as your bullets clash with your opponents!
Use your abilities and physics in creative ways to gain an advantage
some rules can be altered via the options menu under RULES
Standard Vs. Mode: Other team's bullets damage you (and make you smaller) until you eventually explode and lose a life. Last person or team standing wins!
Sport Modes: Two arenas - basketball and soccer inspired. Touching the ball with your character or an ability changes it to your color. Score a goal while it's your color, and every other color loses a life!
Hot Potato: The "hot potato"-balls switch between red and green every time they are touched by a player or ability. If your character touches them while red, you take damage.
Zero Gravity: This arena has standard Vs. mode rules, but with a boundless zero gravity playfield. Bullets loop forever until hitting something!
CRUMBLE mode: An arena/mode made in collaboration with BRUTE FORCE (developer of CRUMBLE & Paper Sky). Standard Vs. mode rules but with a toppling playfield. Falling into the fog at the bottom is an instant KO!
Obstacle Course/Race mode (Multiplayer OR Single player): These arenas are a race to the finish in a pure platforming-style mode. Touching red surfaces sends you back to your last checkpoint.
Target Practice (Single player only): Blast as many targets that you can within the time limit. Destroying targets adds to the timer. Improve your aim to challenge your friends!
Square Up! mode (Single player only): A precision physics-platforming mode where you try to make it to the top of the map to banish an ancient relic as quickly as possible. Inspired by "Getting Over it" and "Only Up!".
*5-6 player battles can only use up to 4 xbox gamepads at a time, then use alternate types for the other two players.

I recently bought Squarena and I've been thoroughly impressed! As an avid gamer, it's not often that I find a game that captivates me and also appeals to my son. The gameplay is engaging, with enough depth to keep me hooked for hours, and the content is appropriate and entertaining for my son as well. We've had a blast exploring, learning, and conquering challenges together. It's a rare gem that brings families together like this, and I can't recommend it enough! Definitely 10/10
A fun game to play with friends. There are a lot of different stages/game modes and the core mechanics are fun.
Squarena is an addictive game that captivates with its minimalist design and challenging puzzles. The game's simple visuals and smooth gameplay allow for both mental stimulation and relaxation. As each level becomes more intricate, solving them requires strategy and focus. Squarena is an excellent choice that will challenge you, entertain you, and deliver the joy you seek from a puzzle game
To start, from the launch and upon entering the menu, I find that it's quite well-designed with a good sound ambiance. Next, I went to the options, which are, in my opinion, rather straightforward. What I found cool as a feature is the ability to change the backgrounds. Afterward, I checked out the game credits, and I find it more interesting to be able to exit the credits with the B button, as it's not very intuitive to press the menu button to return to the menu. Once I explored the menu, I clicked on 'Start the game' and chose the first offered mode, the aiming training, which is, in my opinion, quite enjoyable with its interesting mechanics. You can jump and place a bar under your feet to jump higher, but not infinitely, as it's quickly limited by stamina. Another mechanic that I appreciate is teleportation; it's my favorite. It allows for quick movement provided you aim well. The only thing that displeased me is the cooldown between shots, which I find too high. Thus, we only have one chance to hit the target, after which it disappears. I would prefer the target to stay a bit longer, and the shot cooldown to be a bit faster. The second game mode, 'Race Intro,' is, from my point of view, more interesting. It challenges you to try to complete the circuit perfectly and achieve the best time. I find this game mode perfect and even more enjoyable in cooperation. The third mode is similar to the second in its course, except that the goal is no longer to be the fastest but to go the highest. I think the powers are underused. For example, teleportation would be super cool in the third game mode. In conclusion, I would be more inclined to say that this game deserves to be played cooperatively for even more hilarious moments among friends. It would be so cool if new game modes appeared in the future. This game has good potential. The controls are good, and the understanding of the game mechanics is also satisfactory.

Alright, so I played this mostly for the "Getting over it," style gameplay - and I think that's done pretty well in the game. It's super frustrating when you die and have to start all over from the bottom, which I think is part of the allure of games like this. I'm not a huge fan of games of that genre, as I simply don't have the level of precision normally required to excel at them. Still, the game does a good job at it, and I can see how this would be fun with friends that also like the genre.
I mean, you can teleport. It doesn't get much better than that. Once I realized that I decided with every fiber of my being I would never jump again. That's when I unlocked the obstacle course level and was sucked into another world. AKA, my own personal hell. And as it turns out you can only jump in the obstacle course...well played....well played indeed. What i'm trying to say is. It is a real fun party game to play with friends. At first it seems basic but really is a challenge once you get better at it.
Its a decent game. Sadly i don't have friends to play with :') so i only tried solo mode which are for those who have patience and doesn't get angry after not able to progress xd.
