I don’t normally play top down RPGs like these and when I saw this offer through Curator Connect, I almost denied it. It turns out that I probably should have, because this game is confusing and I felt like I had accidentally downloaded something that could hurt my computer. I have no idea what this story is about even after having played it for a bit. The game is also full of information boxes with an overwhelming amount of options that just confused me even more. I also never felt like I had any idea how to advance through the game except for clicking every flashing object I could see on the screen and scrolling through the million different options till I randomly opened a new window I hadn’t seen before. Maybe I just don’t get these pixel RPGs and that might be it. But I did not have a good time and I won’t recommend it because of that. _________________________________ Help me out by following my Curator, I’d really appreciate it!!
This game is really really enjoyable, actually makes you think on how to complete each level. I like the hint giver a lot, if you run into the hint master, please always click it! If you like puzzle games and thinking/figuring things out through trial and error (literally) its a good game. I love games like that a lot. I can say I died a lot. my brain was turning like a hamster on fire for a good few of the levels too haha! Each level has its own rules, and sometimes it takes a hot minute to figure it out. I got to watch a few others play this to see how long it took them to get past a level compared to what i did. Oh and the music! The entire time i kept catching myself dancing along, its way too catchy ngl. There is multiple songs too, not just one. I did have a few hiccups here and there, but that was because i had gotten to play before the game release. So i managed to break a few levels. (Yes i had let arc know about these issues as arc was watching me play) I have not yet finished the game, but i do plan to in the future when i have free time. :D Thank you so much Arc for allowing me to try your game!
Square trial and Error is a unique indie puzzle game where you solve different levels by dying - a lot lol I found the music in this game very catchy, the npc interactions hilarious, and the gameplay almost addicting. I test indie games a lot, and was surprised by the level of customization available in game. Plenty of things to unlock and interact with. The developer is planning to continue working on extras to add to the game, and i am excited to see what comes next. I will be playing this again for sure! Disclaimer: I review indie games on stream and was gifted a code to play and review this early access. I aim to give my full and fair opion regardless of any gift or payment received on any of my reviews. Full VOD is on YT - nattiegeo on all socials.
I had a fun time playing this game, I enjoyed how different each puzzle felt for the stages. It really lives up to its name trial and error cause the amount of times I died to figure out the rules of each stage was quite a bit, but that's the fun in it. Funny enough it showed me some types of puzzles I'm good with and ones I'm terrible at figuring out. If a retro feeling puzzle game is up your alley I'd give it a try.
This game is certainly interestingg, but I can't deny my enjoyment heree. This is a game that's essentially a puzzle game inspired by the likes of "The Impossible Game" and you can tell with its puzzless Essentiallyy, each of the puzzles here have a set rule you must followw, but quite a lot of these puzzles have something in commonn: A timerr. This timer essentially gives you a few seconds to make your move until it reaches threee, then the gameplay slows to a halt for a tiiiny bit before it goes back to one and you can move againn. Sometimess, there are certain tiles thatt, when stepping on them at the number threee, will give you a restart and send you back to the beginningg, while others will be safe for you to stay still on for a momentt. Normallyy, I wouldn't like it when gameplay screeches to a halt like thiss, but due to the genre (puzzles of the vast majorityy) I allow it 'cause it gives you a time to stop and thinkk. In some stagess, once you recognize patterns and timingg, you're home freee, but some stages simply require the luck of the draw of Russian roulettee (examplee: in some areas the timer is completely gonee, making it so that patterns are the way to succeedingg, but in the vast majority these levels involving timing along with recognizing patternss), making an interesting turn of events for playerss. As for things to do aside from puzzless, you can change your housee, talk to other NPCss (who tend to offer some form of quirky dialogue akin to the hint man and achievement titles), change the music that plays in the backgroundd, etc. There's plenty of things to dooo, but if you don't like challenges involving using your brain to unlock these thingss, this game isn't for youu I have a few grievancess, of coursee, no game is without flawss: -There's a few typos throughoutt, mainly through the opening warning screenn (another example being the achievement name of "Open you heart" when it should be "Open your heart". Yes there's a lot of Sonic refs in the achievements how'd you knoww?). Hopefully the dev'll look over the dialogue and give it a little touch-upp -Sometimess, when the score reaches 0, random negative numbers will flash across the screenn. It's a very blink-and-you'll-miss-it errorr, but it's there and I found it rather strangee -In my playthroughh, there was a lot of text that was missing/cut-offf. Noww, I know why this error occurredd (the nw.js file not matching the version of RPGMaker that's being usedd, this is mostly applicable to those implementing achievements with the programm), but people's occurrences with this may varyy (ie. Sometimes it hardly ever happens in a playthroughh, sometimes it happens a lot in onee, the ladder was what happened to mee). (EDIT: It seems like this is particularly a problem for my PC's casee, as when opening a different gamee, the NW.js error would occur despite me doing absolutely nothing to itt, it only gave me that error after playing Squaree. I've already fixed it by deleting the NW.js files on my PC (not the other game's files, but the PC's nw.js files that you find in the AppData folderr), but this confirms it to simply being a problem with my PC. Anywayy, if you're a game dev and use a lower version of NW.js, best you delete the PC's NW.js files after playingg) -Achievements aree... Interestingg, to say the leastt. This has only happened while playing this game but whenever I got an achievementt, the Steam achievement window would glitch outt. Sometimes it wouldn't close and stay on the screenn, when minimizing the game's tab and putting it back into fullscreen the achievement window would be in the middlee, sometimes this window would freeze while trying to close and you could see its little framess, etc. Not just with achievements eitherr, but whenever the little pop-up window would appear it would do the prior thing as was mentionedd. Possibly this is a problem with greenworkss? I don't know but it's strange and I've never seen it happen with any other game aside from thiss All in all thoughh, this is a really cute and challenging gamee! I enjoyed my time with it very muchh! X)
