Simple farming/fishing tetris farming game, a kinda simple interesting story line. A nice way to to just pass the time or use as distraction.
A decent puzzler, thank you to the devs for putting in a skip cutscene button for those of us who just want to play a puzzle game.
It's a really nice game for someone who loves puzzles, tho I already got everything in 5 years. Hoping for more updates
Cute, relaxing, simple, original and fun. I love how it quickly develops into a narrative game with you exploring the village and it's villagers. Recommended.
I've only played for an hour so far, but I'm looking forward to playing more soon. The gameplay is addictive and the character dialogue is really witty and charming. Very recommended for the price, and this comes from someone who typically doesn't even enjoy puzzle games.
Quite a pleasant casual puzzle game. There's no farming directly - each crop type corresponds to a different pattern of tetromino-esque shape that then needs to be fit on the game board. Other farming elements, like cattle, slightly alter the game play or give assistance if you get stuck. There's also not much in terms of base building - structures just appear on your farm as you unlock them, but you have no control over their location, style, etc. There are villagers you can interact with and romance, but frankly they are currently quite shallow and unimpressive. It kind of feels like villagers were added to make the world less lonely and to mirror other popular farm sims. Overall, I think the game is worth the money as-is, however, I do think it can benefit from one or two more variations to the main puzzle type, and some sort of endless/all-in mode for a full casual experience.
Simple puzzle, tetris-like game. Pretty much finished the whole game (aside from the final house cosmetic upgrade) in 6-7 hours of casual play. The graphics are cute and it's a nice "time-waster" kind of game for those who like trying out a few new games once in awhile to get the fast and early rush of achievement feels.
I enjoyed my playthrough!
Welp, didn't realise I had 14 hours in this game. Anyway, Square Farm is a very cute relaxing puzzle game. The mechanics would be familiar to most people, and are extremely easy to pick up. The graphics are simple and adorable, very easy on the eyes. There is a relationship system, but I wouldn't say players should expect anything like Stardew Valley or any in depth dating game; the relationships just consist of very short stories that are snapshots into a sleepy town. The music has quite the Animal Crossing feel, so the music loop isn't annoying at all; it's just pleasant music. All in all, a very good, solid game to pick up if you want something cheap and need to relax a bit with a mindless puzzle game.
what i am recommending with my thumbs up is the actual puzzle game bit. the mechanics are amusing and fairly straightforward, you get new shapes each season, there's little bonus objectives to encourage you to try out the more tedious crop shapes, you can use the cash earned to get upgrades that make your life easier. if you want to to a little block puzzle, this is a decent game. as for the stardew-valley-esque window dressing where you "grow" your "relationship" with NPCs: in my honest opinion, skip it. just don't bother. don't do it at all, even. the NPCs are bizarre and unhinged, and not in a way that makes them likeable; i kept with it in the vain hope that this trainwreck would improve, but was disappointed. to a friend, i likened it to those videos that you sometimes see of people who, as a prank, take their friend/relative/poor unsuspecting victim to one of those gimmick diners where the gimmick is that all the staff are as ludicrously rude to you as their heart desires. i kept waiting for a popup saying "surprise", for the secret cameras to be revealed, for some sort of bad-taste joke to attempt to pay off, but alas, it was not so. it feels like the aim was for messy, quirky characters, and it overshot so far into bizarro-land i genuinely kind of regret the time i spent hoping for it to get better. couple typos in the dialogue, as well. the story arcs "resolve", but the leadup to it is so oddball-bizarre and in parts straight up disturbingly rude that there's no catharsis there for me. all in all, solid little puzzle game, but the "talk to NPCs in town" bit is so odd you're better off spending that time just doing the block puzzles. (also note that the horse upgrade, in-game, still claims it replaces the farmer save; it does not do that, it stacks so you get two saves.)
