I got my copy from the dev. One copy will be purchased for a friend to support the game Like most of your games Spoocle it had some interesting moments and I somewhat enjoyed the ending, granted it felt a bit similar to one of your previous titles. I still feel like you not taking advantage of the good elements that are already there, in particular I enjoyed the last 5 minute section where your perceptive of environment constantly changes, going into the small space, and then again into another mysterious location. I think if you added more exploration in that last part, maybe finding more rooms where the Beast operated, I think the immersion would have benefited from another 20-30 minutes of that atmosphere. I am not a huge fan of the format where you look for hidden things, in this case you at least separated yourself from collecting notes (well you still have some), but you are using the camera to collect hidden gore scenes which is more compelling than running around the forest, and I still think the narrative feels like the main goal of the game. On that note I didn't really like the models and it ruined the illusion a little, not sure if those are assets, but maybe it might be a good idea to give models some texture so they look less like some anime FPS that you see on Steam. Not sure how much of the environment you are designing manually, it's a big improvement over the EVIL, but I still feel like you could do a little more. Aside from the ending portion which I liked, you only have to go into ventilation once and it's completely optional, maybe if you connected more rooms and navigation with those, I think the atmosphere would be a lot more tense. If you ever played Lost in Vivo, there is a lot of space manipulation to make the navigation feel more uncanny, you do that sometimes like that ending portion, but I want to see you do more of that and give more character to the locations. The hospital overall didn't look bad, it had a little bit of variety, but at the same time I feel like you didn't reward the curiosity enough, even though I liked looking for the silly locations where the Beast was hiding. ................................................................. I assume the story is not connected to the 'I LIVE UNDER YOUR HOUSE', but it does make me wonder, in my mind I want to think they are in the same universe, only makes sense. Calling the character BEAST was a little unfortunate, I wasn't sure if you were making some weird SPLIT reference, I mean a mental ____, that crawls on walls? I actually bothered to get all of the right answers, which took me several tries because it does not tell you which you got wrong. The story was alright, I didn't think it was anything special, in my mind I was expecting it go a little deeper than what was given, I had some interesting theories but I think the narrative is relatively basic. However, I do like a little characterization you gave to the BEAST with the note writing. My favorite jump scare was the one in the v_______, it's curious though that I think it's one of the few times you see him without the camera, so is he really there or you only having a vision? I actually like the camera effect you added to the first person gameplay, maybe it's my personal thing bit I think it makes the game more immersive when you don't have a fixed perspective, I like when devs experiments with these things. I thought the random sound effects were well done, like little metal objects falling on the floor or something subtle moving in the background. I still think you needed more actual events happening to the character and not just observing, the only sense of danger I felt was that scene in the tunnel and maybe a little at the last part.
Pros:
(+) I think you getting better at making interesting locations, overall I liked the camera effect and the room design was decent enough with some variety of effects and various scenes. It's not where I would like it to be, I think you still need to do more navigational changes, maybe adding more tunnel/room exploration, play with the light distance more, have more oddly shaped tunnels. (+) I enjoyed the story that was there, but I thought maybe you could have gone a little deeper on the Beast and maybe exploring his background. I thought you gave the monster some interesting personality traits. (+) The audio was very subtle, I think you handled that very well.
Feedback:
- you probably should tell the player which questions they getting wrong - I would like to see you reward exploration a bit more, you have a little bit of that already, but I think if you added another 2-3 optional secrets it would feel a lot better - I think you need to do more navigational escapism, that last 5 minutes felt very good, the atmosphere was on point, if you connected more rooms with that, or have some other areas that would take advantage of limited visibility and texture, it would be better. - try not to make the models look too default, at least find some textures to make them look less glossy like it's some asset from an anime game Overall Thoughts: 6/10 Strangely I think this is the most time I have in any of your games, mainly because I could not figure out one of the questions, I actually only missed 1 note, but otherwise I fully explored it, so in a weird way I still found the game interesting enough to replay. I think there were some good moments, but ultimately I feel like you didn't do enough, which is how I feel with a lot of your games, get a little taste of something that I feel could be more rewarding. Even if you stretched the last section a bit more with more locations and things to find, maybe some underground complex, I would have proffered that to a tiny experience, need to reward the exploration and curiosity more. Take the core premise of Fatal Frame, but limit it to a just mental asylum (ad small final location) you must explore and photograph to unravel the story, There's just something unnerving about the old PS1/2 era retro graphic style, and it comes in clutch for the atmosphere of this short horror adventure title. The FINAL reveal felt forced for no other reason than a quick ooh spookey gotcha moment. Given how the story progresses, that moment would hqve have been a great way to end this tale. Thanks to reading the notes scattered though out allowing you to connect with the patients through understanding their mental struggles and the plight of being underfed leet the tale end on a tragedy that surprisingly tugged at my heart stings. Thankfully the final note allowed me a moment to just stand there and take in the subtle execution and character model positioning that changes how you view the events leading up to the discovery. Despite the final boo moment and quiz feeling tacked on for replayability, Spiritgrapher was far more enjoyable than I expected heading in and clearly suggest you play. Well done, SpoocleMacBoogle. I paid $2.79, but even at $3.99 I would have been very happy with the experience at that price point. Anxious to try out any other titles you have done or are in the pipeline. And fter looking at your catalogue, I'm pleased to know I've both played a number of them, but also have a few in y library I have yet to install.
The difficulty level is not very difficult, but you need to look closely at the camera and observe. Because you don't know how to proceed. The map itself is not that big. There is no element of surprise, and it gives the impression of a quiet. If you like, please check it out in my video ~^^ https://youtu.be/rnt2rFc37fc?si=eGxFgmEfnonuAZGe

Decent little horror game.
8/10 Interesting story telling game. Basically a walking simulator where you take photos inside a asylum in certain locations. Each photo is a image of a moment in the story. You must collect all the journal entries and piece together a story that leads up to a major incident that happened. Pay attention to the notes because you'll be quizzed at the end of the game. I love the use of ambient noises, it really fits the creepy trek through this game. There are no jump scares, this game mostly uses images and sounds to give you the chills. Very fun. Highly recommend. Worth the cash.
Spiritgrapher: The Asylum 99 is a short indie horror game. Actually, saying the title takes almost as long as finishing it. Also… it’s not really horror. The jump scares are weak, and the monster is honestly kind of cute. Putting that aside, the game is pretty ugly. It relies almost entirely on free assets I’ve already seen in several other indie games. And did I mention it’s not scary? But fine, let’s say something positive. There are only four Steam achievements — and they’re very easy to get. See? I’m not completely negative. Still, I can’t really recommend this game to anyone. Video: https://youtu.be/xvl2h3cmApY
Spiritgrapher is a relatively short, spooky mystery title. While it is mechanically similar to Fatal Frame, the tone and environments are completely different. You play as an investigator of an old, decrepit asylum with a camera that can photograph the spirits that linger at the site. There is a lot about Spiritgrapher that I like and I feel like a big studio could really pick up and run with this theme. Jumpscares are few in this title, which I appreciate, though the scariest bits did not take place on camera. I will admit that I got stuck looking for a key and consulted a guide. Though the asylum is small, none of the maps in the area were legible so I had to memorize where everything was. Not great to get a "bathroom key" when there are, in fact, four bathrooms. But I recommend it. It wasn't expensive and I still had quite a bit of fun with it.
there's going to be a quiz on the game at the end, it's going on your permanent record, kiddo
