This game is SOOOO bad! I'm not playing this game a moment longer. I already wasted 50 minutes on it. I'm only around 4 levels in and it's like the developers said "Our game is pretty bad already. You have to find undisclosed objects amongst piles of overlapping items with no idea as to the quantity sometimes - oh, and objects that look way too similar to each other (keys, corkscrews, pliers etc) ...but how can we make it WORSE?" "Remove the colour to half the items!" "Brilliant!" This is all on standard (Casual) difficulty too. I'd hate to see it on Hard. I can't recommend the game on anything except maybe the music which is just fine. The story is threadbare, petered out between stages that have nothing to do with the plot. The graphics are okay (except the gameplay part).
A waste of time and money. That's all you need to know about this game.
I've played this game with my 6 years old daughter but she has quickly lost interest. The storyline is not dominant enough in the game. The same simple puzzles are repeated over and over. There is also a technical issue when the items are stacked on each other, then you can't simply drag them with your mouse. I was lucky to find out that there is a couple seconds lag, when you try to drag an item to the side. Otherwise the game would be uplayable. Sometimes I had to wait around 10 seconds after the mouse movement to actually see the item being dragged to the location of the mouse pointer. All in all the game is not bad, quite meditative. So I've finished it as part of my evening relaxation and enjoyed the music pretty much!
TL;DR tags: buggy, asset flip, repetitive. A Plot Story and Spirit of the Ancient Forest use the same assets, mechanics, music, and level design. Basically the same game. They both focus on puzzles with a different (mostly superfluous) story. No achievements. 3 difficulty modes. Levels where items have to be pushed manually around are broken on No Timer mode. Clicking too fast between matching sets (it can be pairs, sets of three, or both) can cause items to clear incorrectly and require the level to be restarted as you're no longer able to match all sets. In addition, both games may also be flips of their full story-styled HOP games all as individual purchases. But I will have to double check, and if I haven't updated this by the time someone who's interested comes along, that someone is welcome to inquire about it. At the very least, I can say the music and assets are in at least a handful of games with majority confidence.
So basically the game is the same pile of ojects and your goal is to find either 2 or 3 objects of the same type. Each round you're fed with a random trivia of the local "story". Sometimes you're also given an easy puzzle to solve for an additional hint. Unfortunatley, hidden object genre doesn't work without the variety of screens and a backing story. There is simply no content to keep you entertained.
This is an ultracasual puzzle/hidden object game ported from tablet onto PC. For a tablet game it would be pretty good, but it's possibly a bit too casual on PC and it compares poorly with other hidden object games like the Midnight Mysteries series and so on. The puzzles are highly repetitive and highly simplistic, the story is ultra simple (you get about 1 sentence of story and a picture between each puzzle). You don't get a choice in the game about what to do or where to go, it's just a chain of puzzles one in a row, which is a lot less than other hidden object adventure games give you. If you really love hidden object games and you've played the others by all means go for this next, but it doesn't compare well. Once more Steam fails to give me any choice in the review between recommending the game or not, I would prefer a 6/10... it's very close but I'm afraid this one falls behind the pack. If someone asked me which puzzle/hidden object game to buy on Steam, I'd wonder what happened to my life that people ask me such questions. Anyway, this wouldn't be my first recommendation to whoever is asking, or even my 5th one. Also, being a tablet game, it's inviting a thumbs down anyway. Edit: Oh yeah, this is free on iOS but they want you to pay for it on Steam so you can pretend your PC is an iPhone. Screw these guys.
Game is ok if you are looking for something simple and easy for relaxing gameply. But after some time there is a game breaking but where you have to disassembly the heaps and match items but you can't move them you can only select them and this doesn't allow you pass this level. Other that that due to random nature of every level you can get some part fall almost out of the screen and without hint you can't find match most of the time. Ant the last thing is that sometimes are very small like needles, nail or something like that and it is quite challenging to pick them especially if there are three of them and your time is running out.
