It's not a review. Can't review what's efficiently a scam at this point. See, the game is dead, Jim. In a most literal sense - it requires an online connection to the game servers in order to launch it. Guess what? Servers are down for months, the same is true for developer's website and support emails. So if you bought it - refund ASAP so you don't miss the refund window. If missed - fat chance, Steam won't look into it and you'll get an auto-message 'refund request denied'.
Welcome back to the "Why didn't steam add a neutral opinion yet?" series episode 999. Why would i use a neutral opinion? Because it depends if you're using it for yourself or if you use it for a VR arcade.
Gunplay and Controls
The gunplay in this game is (in my opinion) one of the better ones, and the aiming in this game is REALLY good for low end PCVR setups like mine. In most games you would have to aim trough default/holographic sights. For high end setups this stuff is really immersive, but for me it's like strapping a monitor to your head using some duct tape and trying to look for one red pixel on the entire screen (it's not great). In this game however you have a big marker on your hud showing you where your shots will hit.
Story and Replayability
Story? What story? The fact is, you don't get any. There are a total of 4 maps, that each have 4 challenges in them, as well as 2 COOP horde maps for you to play with up to 4 friends in no chronological order . The lore that you see on this store page is all that you get. As for replayability, there isn't mutch to speak of either. You get some weapons to "unlock" (altrough you still somehow get to play them on the coop maps) and you can compete for the best scores on the leaderboard. Yup, that's it. You can easly get bored of this game after an hour or two because is no incentive to keep going more than once.
Mechanics, Optimazation and Accessibility
The Accessibility aspect is definitely well tought out. You get the option to play standing up, or to play while sitting if you preffer that. There are a lot of languages you can choose from (altrough not polish :<) and the VR comfort section allows you to turn off camera shake and adjust the black zone around your vision, so you don't get motion sickness which is always welcome. When it comes to Optimalization, then it's ok i guess. I was able to play with mainly low settings, other than the resolution which i set to high, altrough the game will start freezing and stuttering at some point (i will get into that later). As for the enemies themselves, it's great. There's a lot of different enemies in the game that can also have specific resistances for one type for weapons, forcing you to change strategies every now and then. And here we go to the not so well made part. Every wave in the horde mission increases the difficulty by either introducing new enemies or adding more of those you allready know. Now this is great in paper because it's more immersive and confuses the player, but at wave ~4-5 there are simply too many which NOT ONLY causes the player to be too confused to do anything, but my GPU started to struggle rendering all the enemies on the screen as well. There were simply too many to handle. Personally, i would add the resistance to more enemies and make them stronger with time instead of just spamming more into the map but it's up to developers on what they decide to with the game.
Summary
If you just want to have some casual fun shooting things, then i would stay away from this game like the devil, you will play for 3 hours at max before giving on it entirely and asking for a refund. But if you're a VR arcade and are looking for some games for clients, then this is a really fun one time experience that might get them hooked on the idea of VR gaming.
Copy provided through steam curator program After playing for a little my impressions so far: + Good visuals + Good gameplay + Tutorial + Wave shooter and multiplayer + Enemies remind you of giant bugs which give you Starship Troopers vibe. + Great performance. No issues running maximum settings on 1060. - Controls need adjustment but nothing too problematic. - Suffers from the same issue as every single VR game - nobody playing online. Overall recommended especially if you can play with friends. I'm very picky about VR shooters, and the aiming and game mechanics here are good.
Achtung BETRUG!!! nicht kaufen! Server abgeschaltet
Game is unplayable. Servers are down and there is no way to play without their servers. This game should be taken down from Steam until it functions. Had to refund.
