i love this game and everything about it
I really enjoyed the lore of this game. It was a fun indie game.
The story and especially the story telling were impeccable and creative. The character design and art direction were great. Overall an enjoyable experience and the game doesn't overstay its welcome. Negatives for me were the stop-motion style character animation (intentional low framerate animation) and the poor combat. Nice AA game overall.

7/10 very cool artstyle, music, and story but the gameplay is mid
I played the game all the way through. I like the fact that the game didn't waste any time, it was straight to the point. It didn't take too long to beat it. I really enjoyed the art style, especially the cinematic cut scenes. The story has a nice spin on the boss fights and is revealed during the progression. The music definitely pulls you in and had me wanting to listen to the sound track. The main character is very beautiful especially as the game progresses. The game play can be tighter, but I did get used to the pacing of the inputs. It could have been a bit smoother but you can get used to it. I was very happy that this game's lore was rooted in the South. Hence the title. The mythology was very creative and the art of the game compliments it extremely well. In fact it carried the game all the way through. The protagonist is a sweetheart. The vibes of this game is The Wizard of Oz meets Alice in Wonderland. If this game was 60-70 dollars my rating wouldn't be high, but the price is right, so I can gladly give it an strong 7 weak 8. If you want a game you can have an experience with, and something you can just jump in have a great time and progress at a good pace, so you can go back to work or whatever, this game is it. The only other game that I've played not long ago that was like that was Hades. I would definitely recommend this games. And I like that the lore is very different from what we normally get. I give props to the deva for really trying to make a good game. Mission accomplished. The game's strengths was music, art style, lore, and story. The game's weakness is enemy diversity, gameplay(needs tightening), and I can't think of a third.
