Really entertaining, absolutely worth the price tag. One problem, while the game does autosave pretty frequently (huge plus, by the way) it also crashes a lot. Not entirely sure why, but definitely not a deal breaker. If you like RPG Maker horror style games, can't go wrong with this one.
It's a short RPG, about 8 hours long for the unfamiliar (though luck may make it take more or less), but is a very good way to feel Oates' style. Only complaints I have is that the text crawls are a bit slow and inputs can be buffered, resulting in unwanted choices, as well as accidental interactions after using an items. But I say, pick the demo up if you are not confident, and buy the full game if you want the full story.
Sorry We're Open is an amazing game with story and hidden meanings, things that hit hard to the heart if you really look into it. It really puts into perspective what real life, and working can do to someone. It honestly is a story that makes you work through whats happening, makes you question what the manager (the player) even is; all you know is that the game leaves a lot of detail out for the player to fill in. It is a way to make it more meaningful to the player, and/or a way to complete the story and it's meaning in your own mind. This game is very interpretive, and meant for players who seek to find hidden meanings and messages to what the real world is like; this is a must play for anyone that is looking to enlighten themselves with deeper meaning indie games. I recommend this game as it was well made and had love put into it, a story driven to show the player a way of reflecting upon real world issues with corporations. The small details, the layout, the buildings, all the way down to simple things such as the mannequins, or even the forgotten lunch boxes. It is your conscience, see the story as you please.
A really cool game that needs to be played by so many more people! I actually love RPG Maker Games in the horror genre and I'm always extra excited when I find hidden gems like this one. The game is plenty creepy without any unnecessary jumpscares and is something between a text based rpg and survival horror game. The graphics are really well made and the creepy moments are spot on, especially for me
because I frigging HATE mannequins!!!
. I loved it and hope there will be more games like this! <3
Fun liminal self-contained retail/corporate adventure. I enjoyed the heavy focus on resource-balancing in the combat system, but the ability to avoid most of it with not much downside (as there's no sort of XP or leveling system) does end up trivializing making the choice to enter an encounter instead of taking another option to skip it. Which is a bummer since I think forcing combat could have made for a more engrossing experience but I digress. There's six endings in total to find, although nothing locks you out of any of them, so after collecting everything you can experience them all in a row. Overall, a solid and unique experience that I would recommend.
Seems like a good game, but crashes constantly. Even though it autosaves in every room, I can't continue playing because it doesn't autosave during a work shift, and I cant complete a whole shift (like 10 encounters) without it crashing. Essentially soft locked the game. I think it looks like a fun spin on the genre but its just not playable
Great little game, even from someone who isn't such a fan of RPG maker stuff or JRPG games. The creators really got in a good dollop of psychological horror mixed with the realities of retail capitalism. Wishlist and snag while on sale.
Committed myself to finishing this game on my day off work, and I'm glad I did! This is such an eerie treat, very unique and I love how all the themes were handled. It tied together into a really enjoyable game, I hope to play again in a few months when I forget all the puzzles.
This game is amazing, I love it!! Really great atmosphere and story, kinda cozy but in a horror way. PLEASE ADD ACHIEVEMENTS!! There's a lot of secret stuff, so it would be super to have them :D
