Good game, I recommend playing in VR for more horror. This game was responsible for my first terrifying orgasm. 9/10
For some reason when i start s case file. When i spawn in the starting room. the wall with all the information thats suppose to be there isnt. the wall is blank. so im lost here on what things mean. so the game is unplayable when spirit hunting. also some things you cant grab when playing seated. have to refund the game i guess. what a bummer . cause the game was great otherwise. i guess my game is bugged.
As with all games, there are some issues with Somni, although play wise I haven't encountered any bugs. The "tutorial" is an audio bit that you listen to, which could be massively improved. Some of the evidence is hard to figure out unless you spent the time listening to the audio. One main complaint is that while some evidence can only be gathered at certain times, you've got no clue what the evidence is supposed to look like until experiencing both sides of it (present and not), so for a few runs you're flying blind. There is a currency system, that while being able to purchase perks, there isn't really a purpose as all equipment is provided for the runs, and eventually you'll probably have more money than necessary. Although there are some issues, it's still being worked on, and it has a lot of potential. What I do like is how its different to phasmophobia. The ritual that needs to be completed can be frustrating when hunting down supplies, but that makes it enjoyable with the increased hunts. The cryptid maps are also pretty cool though I am avoiding those for now, I'm too chicken. A great game with plenty of potential Edit: As of 25/06/2023 It seems as though this game is dead in the water. No updates since september 2022. Its a shame as this game had so much potential but with no further updates, I feel as though I have to change my recommendation.
I Really like the ambience. The music is well chosen. But the game is really empty at this point. You dont even have to buy or organize any tools. There are only perks you can buy and use one at a time. you learn this game pretty fast and then there are no more surprises...and i really dislike the idea of having lesser defence items on harder difficulty...rule number one for a ghost hunter should to be really good prepared...but this logic here is...harder ghost....why should i took a cruzifix with me? at this point...take one out of the MANY other ghost hunting games that allready understand what keeps you onboard
If you're an experienced Phasmophobia player, this game will be extremely dull. It has potential, but it lacks in many areas. There is little to no ghost interaction at all, its quiet, then it tries to kill, no build up of ghost activity, just hunt mode. The possession is really awesome, but it was definitely the highlight of my hour playing which isn't a good thing. There is no horror, it has the horror setting but it isn't scary in the slightest. Adding interactions with the entity prior and inbetween the entity's hunts would improve the game drastically. The burning house map simply needs to go, it is tagged as realistic but i run around a house completely engulfed in flames like it's no big deal. It's also extremely easy, some holy water and a basic understanding of hiding and you can win every single round effortlessly. The cryptid hunting mode is as bare bone basic of a shooter as you can get and after one play i was completely bored. You just run around looking for hearts while shooting the cryptid when it runs at you, over and over and over again. Slow that game mode down, take away the shooter music, add some stealth and make the monster actually threatening and you've improved that as well. I really can't recommend this game in its current state as it doesn't carry much weight behind what it tries to do. However, I do really like what its trying to do with the possession, evidence gathering, rituals, and hallucinations. I would change my review if they included non life threatening interactions. For example, flickering lights, objects thrown or moving, footsteps, appearances, talking, or whatever else to add some horror and suspense. Just running around a quiet house until i hear hunt music to tell me to hide isn't it.
Game is promising and it looks like the dev's are actively working on it. But... There's a big issue -- it's an up-to 6 player co-op game with no one playing. Highly recommend checking player base stats before you buy, or convincing your friends to buy it with you, or accept that you'll be playing the game alone. This game needs to do a free weekend or some other promo to get to the masses. Recommend checking out if its on sale.
This game started out poorly and had many negative reviews on its page, however with a few updates they managed to flip the reviews around which is most impressive! This game is definitely fun but it comes with a huge learning curve. The tutorial is straight forward for the Cryptid hunting but the paranormal hunts do not give any context on what evidence is associated with what buttons. However, once you learn the game and figure out what is associated with what, the game becomes less infuriating and more fun! The ghost are modeled with cinematic kill animations, they can break through doors and punch holes in your closet, the ambiance is nice (the music needs a little work), and the hunts can be hilarious to mildly terrifying! Overall this game still needs some work but I can see it having some great potential with some tweaks here and there to the Cryptid hunting (not having the lungs of an asthmatic child) and the paranormal hunting (giving context to the evidence selection)! Ps: Game is much more fun with friends, soloing it may be extremely difficult! And check for purchasable perks in your game menu!
I got this one for dirt cheap in a bundle and I see why. It's a Phas clone with a few interesting ideas, but it's completely dead. I've never seen even one other player online. Only buy it if have a group of friends you plan to play it with and even then, just play Phas or one of the better clones.
This game is udder ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. But a weirdly fun game...
